FCS Move to Spring Poll

I actually like the Spring football line-up. How often can you have college football on a Sunday? I was able to catch 3 games in a row on Sunday. I think there is a market for spring FCS football.

It’s an interesting concept. Practice in the fall. Play a BCS money game as a preseason game or 2 near the end during the last 3rd of their season. Effectively have that reason the end of practice scrimmage (ie replace traditional spring game) and then play full season in the spring. I could get on board with that.

Largest downside is that it could hurt NFL chances for FCS guys. But the way the NFL is going they won’t have any practice until the summer anyway. If you’re taking about how to save football for the next 20 years, think you have to be willing to be creative.

I am going to miss spring football once the season is over. It has been an enjoyable diversion.

The latter will be a pretty good indication as to where the preseason poll will have UR pegged going into the Fall 2021.

Sam Houston has some serious speed. They have a big advantage being able to recruit some of those texas athletes. Also has Danny Rocco ever lost a close playoff game? Every loss in the playoffs with us was a blowout and they got killed today by by the Jacks.

Root for the CAA to better its Power ratings.

The MVFC got all the limelight this season.

Hopefully,we got some good game film to analyze v Purple and Hens for this Fall.

At least we get them both home.

Well, the CAA made up half the Final Four.

Absolutely. Delaware was never in the game, and JMU should be in the finals, but they blew it. From my viewpoint, a strong CAA benefits us.

Ya I wouldn’t say the CAA had a bad postseason at all. Making up half of the final 4 speaks for itself even if neither team advanced past the semis. JMU has a great team that has more talent than just about anyone but I do think that QB play holds them back a little bit which is the first time that’s been the case for them in a while. UD will be preseason top 5 likely this fall and is only going to get better with Rocco as their coach. The MVC I think showed that it isn’t the dominant conference everyone assumes it is with most of its teams having a pretty weak showing, including a couple teams that maybe shouldn’t have gotten in at all. I’m still not ready to say that UR should have gotten in the postseason though based on only playing 4 games and not beating anyone who was actually good, the good thing is that we get to find out in the fall with a full postseason and schedule.

I do believe that the CAA is a strong FCS conference and apparently R.I. isn’t to be taken lightly this coming
season.
