Early Signing Day,December 4, 2024-December 6, 2024

I suggest we all take a breath. This new landscape in college football impacts FCS programs that have talented players and win games. Kudos to our staff for recruiting kids that win games and excel enough to be recognized as all-conference players. We have won 10 games and a conference championship back to back years. Somebody is doing something right. It’s ironic that none of these three kids that are entering the portal were even starters for Game 1. That speaks also to the depth of talent on our roster. There will always be some that want more and leave early but there will also be those like Jermiah Grant, Jabril Hayes, Wayne Galloway, Tom Elia, Cade Salyers and Nick DeGennaro that stick it out. As long as we can keep getting young talent, mix in transfers as needed and maintain enough upperclassmen that love UR for what it is, we will be fine.
Very well said.

Wonder if they are looking at Stony Brook? Only drawback would be Cosh leaving next year to lead a bigger program.
Our schedule in the CAA in the last two years has been exposed in the playoffs. The year with Cosh and his VMI guys was a special anomaly.
We have had to put up with the dumbass run QB offense since RH has been here. So no, it was not a good decision to extend RH’s K.

A Patriot League rule will prevent us from enrolling any future graduate transfers of which the Ivy League will have a plethora in the transfer portal this cycle.

Yes, this is also in the bylaws. We need URFan1 to get with his source and check on this like the redshirt rule. I doubt the grad transfers got negotiated but we'll see. Also, the Pat League's pretty strict Academic Index could cause us some issues. Our AD did not attend the UR press conference announcing our move. Due to general lack of media attention around UR athletics not much comes out of those things, but it's basically the 1 chance to get any formal answers.

This exodus has nothing to do with NIL.

There will be more….
Always appreciate your insights on this board. Sounds like there is a culture/personality issue going on if these transfers are not simply NIL related. I'm not the biggest Huesman fan but it's wild that a program can have such a successful run the last few seasons amidst what now seems like some kind of internal issue(s).

Few thoughts in no particular order:

-I don't pretend to have any inside information about the transfers and their motivation..
-A huge incentive to going deep in the FCS playoffs is because the players continue playing longer and can't/don't enter the portal until they are done playing. I remember a few years ago, W&M made the Quarterfinals and then lost very few players. I think it is because they were 'stuck playing'. It sucks we aren't talking about the Idaho game this weekend for many reasons, this one included.
-Kids these days are obsessed with being recruited.
-Wasn't DeGennaro one of our Captains? His tweet is rather unfortunate.
-This just feels like the way it is with FCS football anymore. If you choose to support an FCS football program, you have to expect it.
-Be surprised when top players stay ... not when they leave. This is the new world. Kyle Lauletta would never stay here 5 years in today's landscape.
-I don't know how the coaches do it anymore. Re-recruiting their entire roster every single year. Must be totally exhausting for the pay.
-I support Richmond football but I'm not giving a nickel to any NIL funds. Sets the precedent that top players will leave for a nickel and a penny. No point. Sorry guys. Go chase those pennies. Hope it works out in the run.

Always appreciate your insight and knowledge. I must admit a bit of surprise, this just seems strange to pop up all of a sudden with guys coming back for fifth and sixth years to play for the program and each other, which i heard some say in interviews they did.

I do admit I did expect some loses due to the PL move since guys would want to play at a higher level of competition and have more shots at going to the post season than a one bid conference will provide.

Only two dropped from recruits list so far, so guess we see how tomorrow goes.

Huesman de-emphasized passing in an attempt to control clock and give defense a break because of lack of depth.Strategy not so hot for a QB that can throw.

The Coleman-Wickersham preseason competition was a sham.Coleman coming into Wofford game down by 14 with 6mins was a joke after 4 picks by Wickersham.
Should have entered game much earlier. That’s on Huesman.

Huesman overused a transfer RB Zach Palmer who is 5-9,190(on a good day).Way too much reliance on a kid who took that pounding week in and week out even with an A+ OL.

Winston lost control of the offense to Huesman dictates which handcuffed Coleman.
Anyone who watched the games knew this.

DeGennaro deleted his tweet.

And here's Coleman with his own announcement:

What did Nick D say, I could not open?

Something to the effect of "they tried to politic him all season and he was able to overcome it and had an amazing year, hope he finds someplace where he'll really be valued."

First off , cannot deny that the football has had 3 solid seasons in a row despite losing
each year some key players like Turner,Mustapha, Funderburk, Josiah Williams, etc…Life
goes on in this piss on the FCS climate. I did not like hearing Huesman refer to himself in
the W&M press conference as “ not a players coach”. Maybe his personality drives good players
away. The other concern is a winning team but where is the fan base. Our attendance gets worst and
worst each year. How can UR re-energize our fan base?

The fact we will lose a number of players to FBS programs is a testament to our recruiting, player evaluation and development. If these players were not any good, they wouldn't be moving up.

Stars departing is a fact of life throughout FCS and the FBS G6 conferences. It is not exclusive to Richmond.

In other words... they tried to "manage" him all season... This must have referenced Coleman. The inference would be that Coleman did not like what he had to do, so he left.

In other words, Huesman wanted to make Coleman into a running QB in a run first offense.

Is this the correct interpretation?

No, it's not.

and another

Add Trae Tomlinson.

I am not on X but the post just showed up in a thread on AGS. Maybe one of you that is on X can can go to his page and post it.
When I try to copy it, it comes as a post and not opened.

If that’s the case, then not a good position for us to be in. I guess Hardt and Russ were good with that.

Can't comment with detail as the information came by way of a player's parent and although I wasn't asked to keep quiet I'm choosing to. What comes to mind is something my Dad used to say, "one rotten apple can spoil the barrel. " There's been evidence of that if you look closely.

I thought your answer was being sarcastic. Sometimes I can't tell. Thanks for clarifying.

Next time I return for Homecoming I'll just skip the football game and continue to hang out with my friends. I have no desire to go cheer for a bunch of players who are going to leave the minute the season is over.

The article says we signed five on offense and 11 on defense, then lists only nine guys as signees. Seems about par for the course with our PR department. How many of the 16 will graduate with UR degrees? I'm going with four.

Rutgers Football added a new name to its 2025 recruiting class today on National Signing Day as Hun School linebacker John Insinga has announced that he will sign with the Scarlet Knights

Little bit of an under the radar type of prospect, Insinga hails from Greenwich, Connecticut and was committed to the University of Richmond before flipping to Rutgers on Wednesday morning.
