Davidson 1/14 Official Game Thread

I won’t complain too much because Davidson was easily the most impressive team we have seen this year and we were good in the 2nd half but we are who we are - the big run against us, lack of intensity at start, key possessions lost on the boards and and the other guys making more plays than us!

Dominated the second half until there were four minutes left. Same story as the loss to Drake. And Maryland. Still need to win the A10 tourney, but you’d prefer not to have to play 5 games to do so…

Golden overmatched on defense and choking on offense. Burton possibly unnerved playing in front of 10+ scouts. Shame.

no idea why a 6’10 big guy goes for the reverse layup in that spot late. Go up hard & u might get 3 point play.
Just like this team, he is who he is and he’s a finesse player and not a strong power player. Always has been and will continue be. Good player no doubt, but just not a power guy.

We are who we are. That was a perfect ending - What else would you expect?

Moral victories are for teams learning how to play and figuring things out. This is the most experienced team in NCAA history. There’s nothing to figure out!

This, that, lucky shot, whatever, bottom line is a UR loss.

Quick observations ..... Around 3+ minutes typical Spider defensive bounding gives a 2nd chance, 3rd chance score to tie score. After that not the 1st, 2nd, etc option Grace attempts 3 early in shot clock. Later of course GG not boxing out fouls and big man makes 2 FT. And yes, Jacob great game but that NBA like 3 try early in shot clock ill-advised.

Just a few poor decision making instances like this along with the team's forever weakness in the area of obtaining control of a defensive rebound in crunch time plays a part in the loss. Too often occurring under Mooney.

Grace 3 PT shooting down to 29% going 3 for last 20. Come on Chris, get control of your team.

Lucky shot that kid made 8 threes in the game. Go thank Mooney for allowing a hot shooter win the game!!!

Entertaining and competitive most of the game. As usual, poor execution down the stretch by Spiders. Burton's big three, and the late steal at least gave Spiders a chance.

Bottom line truth, UR players don't make enough quality plays at winning time to regularly come out on top. Well coached teams with good players win the majority of close games (especially at home). Teams unable to do that (are not as good) and are 10-7, 1-3.

This team is both underperforming (again) and over-rated.
