Head football coach Danny Rocco announced the hiring of former NFL standout and Virginia Cavalier Clint Sintimas Spider football’s assistant linebackers and defensive line coach, Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015.

Sintim joins the Richmond staff after spending this past season with the Cavaliers, his alma mater, as a graduate assistant following a three-year NFL career with the New York Giants.

Leading the nation in linebacker sacks in 2008 with 11.0, Sintim was the New York Giants’ second-round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the Giants and was a member of the Super Bowl XLVI Championship team.

After his NFL playing career, Sintim spent the 2014 season with the West Alabama Tigers as the outside linebackers coach and assisted with the special teams as part of the National Football League Players Association Coaching Internship Program.

Sintim was a four-year letterwinner at linebacker for UVa and a team captain. A freshman All-American in 2005, Sintim earned ACC Defensive Freshman of the Year honors and by 2007, he was a first-team All-ACC performer who was third on the team with 77 tackles and second on the team with 9.0 sacks.

The Woodbridge, Va., native graduated from the University of Virginia in 2009 with a degree in anthropology.
