Bryce Schneider - 6'5" smooth operator

Also sounds like we have some interest in Shawnta Rogers' kid, a 5-2 guard who plays a lot like his dad did at GW. Assuming Chris Lyles goes high major, Rogers could be a decent fallback if we offer.

to my untrained eye, if he reclassed to 2016 he's making a mistake. that kid needs an extra year for sure. desperately needs to hit the weight room before he plays D1 ball.

Ulla, I don't see what you were linking. I do see that the site you linked is his dad's site so whatever it was, I hope to find something potentially less biased. I haven't found much.

imho, for 2016 he's no Sherod or Buckingham.

As you said,"untrained eye". This kid would be a excellent get for us. A former college coach friend who lives in Myrtle Beach told me he has seen this kid a lot and he is definetly a A10 prospect. I have high respect for this former coach.

I can be converted. enlighten me, R&B. who else is on this kid? I can't find much on him which may be because he was a 2017 kid. but I can't for the life of me figure why he's reclassing up. he doesn't look at all like Julius or Jesse in HS. he's got some filling out to do. a lot.

by the way, if he's 2017 then I love the offer. might still be growing and could be a really skilled wing or even big man for us if he is. I can't find anything that says he's not still 2017, except the verbal commits site which I'm 90% sure is wrong. he's only 16. makes no sense to reclass up.

From what I know he is 2017. I have not seen him play. I am only going on a former college coach that has seen him and I respect this guy alot. I only hope his dad is not reading our message board. I found out a long time ago, dont judge kids until you see them in person.

I have not questioned his skills, just stated that his body isn't ready for the A10 level if he's now a 2016. I doubt his dad would disagree. If he's a 2017, it's a huge difference.

Bryce Schneider, smooth operator, just picked up an offer from Texas Tech, a Big 12 PC school.

Yes how high is the bench press? Also important about the bicep muscle . But not to be funny he is also can score . We have new strategy and ideas now to coach who is s good player. Exciting forme

"Myrtle Beach's Bryce Schneider now has five NCAA Division I offers: Texas Tech, Richmond, James Madison, ECU & Mount St. Mary'…" More are expected soon.

Shooters are hard to find
Fan1, you are so right.
Read what was written about Trey Davis by ESPN: "July, 2009: Trey Davis plays with an effortless and smooth demeanor on the court. He is rarely rattled and attacks the rim to finish with either a dunk or finesse depending on what the situation calls for. He can make the long range three with efficiency and in bunches and understands .." You never know.

Recruiting analysis by ESPN, Rivals, etc... is like a highlight video to me. They are going to accentuate a player's positives.

As for Trey, you watch his jump shot, it looks pretty good. Fairly smooth, nice release, it should go in more than it does but for some reason it does not. The one thing I would have Trey working on this offseason (well besides his FT form), would be for him to establish one or two places on the court, where he can find some confidence in knocking down a jump shot. Identify those areas and take a hundred jumpers a day from each spot.

I think translation is a key in recruiting. Does a players skills/strengths in high school translate to this level. Just like all aspects of recruiting, I'm sure it is hard to pin this down.

I don't know if it is me, but it seems this spring and summer we have more offers out than ever, and seem to be targetting fairly highly ranked players, and possibly a lot of guys that are in the 100 - 200 ranking range. I don't know if this is just my perception or we are more active? I do agree with Fezz in that I like to see shooters.

I'm not a recruiting geek, but think our offers this year are consistent with previous years. I think we have some posters (and kudos to those posters) who are more active in promoting our recruiting offers on the message board.

Bruce will mature and only get better by the time he arrives on campus. Glad to have him join the Spider fold. OSC

What are the chances of a sophomore and freshman Bryce in 2018-2019?

This thread is a really interesting study in the evolution of certain posters’ opinions and demeanor since 2015. Good reading.

Enjoyed re-reading this.

My two take aways are:

Ulla is forever positive. I appreciate that he is always on top of who we’re recruiting. I also expect him to always be positive on the players we are recruiting.

SpiderMan was early on the skeptical train. Thought he gave a fair assessment on a limited view.
