Bryce Golden - Butler commit

Yes, please not Dayton or any A10 school. After one hiccup for Bryce, I would think UR would be a safe landing for him with bro being here. One issue for me is his family has to know the situation here with the possibility CM is gone after say a disappointing 2018-19 season.

Shhhhhh, the truthers will say you need to suspend reality and only show the LOVE for moon dogg. SHHHHH

I guess all will be forgotten after we actually have a successful 2018-19 season!

Can you cite your sources here? People in the athletic department or insiders with the coaching staff or reporters who have said that this is a distinct possibility? Or is it just speculation and therefore fiction, fake news, made up. Let's not be CNN or Fox News here.

CNN is the fire Mooney side and Fox News the Mooney truther side. Neither is good but lets at least not make things up and treat them as fact without a source.

Just my opinion on what I believe the parents of Bryce might be thinking. I would be if I was his father (especially after being through the Pitt mess) and if not on your mind, good for you. Yes, of course fiction.

Clearly fake news, ply.

Grant and Bryce's mom tweeted out a few days ago that her dream of her sons playing together is still a possibility but stressed that it is his decision to make and not hers

I thought K had enough of Mooney, I see he has been worn down by the Moon side. This is the most unbelievable time I can remember in the last 25 of Richmond basketball. Mooney is just reeling folks into the "lets settle for whatever comes our way" lame standard. Oh well, have it K, just not on MY TEAM. I will not accept it. What am I going to do, you ask. Cry and whine on the message board, but never, ever, ever let myself fall into the Plydogg and moon dogg standard. NO thanks!
Lol, just being realistic. My Mooney signed basketball isn’t going to bring in the $4-5 million to buy him out.

I hear you. Not meant as an attack on you, just the sad state of our program sitting around hoping things will get better. I am in the same boat as you and some of these poster love to rub our nose in it. I will wait for their excuses the next two years and I guess hope something unexpected happens.

This supports what I said in the other thread, that IF he bonds with the new hire coach at Pitt he is likely to stay. If is a big little word, time will tell.
possible but it would be hard to sign up for what you know will be a long painful rebuild with the risk you never have a good team while you're there. how do you fill that roster this spring? juco's?

I have no idea the odds we get Bryce, but I'm pretty sure we're only in the running with Mooney.

Not going to happen.Mooney here for awhile. There is no “situation here”.
Yeah, you seem really well connected with your bold predictions, but if I'm Mooney I wouldn't want to have another 12 win season next year.

Our entire program is based on the word "if". So nothing new here. My money is on him bonding with the Pitt staff. Because, we always end up on the wrong side of the "if".

Just my two pennies but no way he ends up at Pitt. Competition is likely to be new P5 options he didn't previously have.

Yep, Bryce is likely going to end up filling an open spot on a very high level team. The competition is going to be very intense, will take a minor miracle for him to end up here. He is one of the top 5 or so PFs left in the 2018 class.

without his brother here and the relationship already developed with the coach, we'd have no shot. but we do have a shot.
probably nothing Mooney can do at this point, though, but wait. we want you. we have a spot for you. the end. your call. he's knows the team and the facilities and the school already.

... unless we're willing to open up a Golden Corral section in the RC on the sideline for friends and family with LayZ boy seating and waitress service. just a thought.

Well, if only we were a "high level team", maybe we would have a chance. I love how even our most ardent Mooney supporters have basically already written off our chance to get Bryce.

Who knows maybe the Moon man surprises us here. If we are stuck with him for at least another year, maybe he can start now turning some of his many doubters into believers. Only way he can do that is to start winning recruiting battles and start winning more games, which he needs to win the former to accomplish the latter.

That Panthers fan is guessing as much as we are. He has no idea.

Scene opens: Joe's Inn Bon Air. An angry and packed crowd is testifying on the many ways Chris Mooney has sabotaged the town's beloved spiders. The old guy who put snot on the ball in Major League, played by fatherspider, emcees the proceedings and general pitchforkery. Myra Fleener, played by Ulla, walks up to the stage and offers a defense of Chris Mooney and the coaching staff, and as he walks back to his seat, Chris Mooney gives Ulla a look of resigned gratitude. Paul Queally gently rests his hand on Ulla's shoulder in support.

All of a sudden, the door in the back opens, where Bryce Golden silently walks through the closely-packed foyer, where the team is congregated. He hands an old leather ball to his brother with a nod, and walks directly to the stage.

"I think its time I play ball for the Spiders," he says, as the Joe's Inn crowd erupts in cheers.

"I TOLD YOU we should have gotten rid of Mooney a long time ago!" crows fatherspider, as Moliva, 23, Spiders10, FRS, and others whoop and holler.

"One more thing," says Bryce G. "Coach stays, I play. He goes, I go."

Silence in the crowd, as fatherspider meekly reads off the remaining votes from the ketchup-pocked napkin.

"I say we vote again!" says Queally...

Funny stuff. I hope he comes to UR. There couldn't possibly be any more excuses for coach if he doesn't have great success w that group.

Hilarious. A simple *like* would have been insufficient for me to convey my amusement.

Back to the topic at hand. It's amazing to me how this fan base is OK with being to be the proverbial dumb dog who chases the fake tennis ball that his owner pretends to throw. There's just something about this fan base that just needs an Andrew White or Bryce Golden to chase over and over and over again.

yeah it might not happen. but I don't go through life never getting my hopes up because I'm worried about being disappointed.

Exactly how I feel. As long as we are in the running and being talked about with a chance to land a quality recruit and win I am all in. When that is gone then I am out!

If only Mooney was in his first season, replacing a beloved coach who passed away....

This post was from September 2015 when Bryce received an offer from Richmond.

This one was her responding to it 3 days ago.

Can someone provide a scouting report on Bryce? He's listed as 6-9 230 on the verbal commits site. What are his strengths. Is he a 3-point shooter? Post player? A bit of both?

I could definitely see with our roster that he could play significant minutes (as a 6th man) as early as his freshman year. Then start for three years if he proves himself.

We could use a 6-9 player who can shoot/rebound/pass, etc....
