Aleem Ford - 2016 Offer

I guess this is my question though, is that how we are doing things? Just filling spots with guys who are unlikely to ever really be competitive for us? Wouldn't we be better off leaving a spot open for next year and instead of recruiting over a guy (which btw, we don't really do) and instead go after someone for 2017 who we give a crap about?

No, we'll just sign some random dude, put out a press release about how excited we are to have him, then send him packing next year after we have 12 months to start recruiting his replacement.

Agree with the sentiment on here, very hopeful Aleem chooses Richmond. Young man has a lot of skill, athletic ability, drive and prepped a year making himself that much more college ready. AND I believe even CoachFezz was impressed with his skill and ability as seen on the highlight videos. Let's land Aleem! K, I like that: "Aleem the Dream"

I feel like at this point in the game if he was 100% to Hofstra then he would have committed on his visit and no left there right before signing day without verballing.

why are we quoting 247 sports? they don't deserve any validation. it's a few guys guessing. these kids don't even know where they're going, yet these guys do?

Does anyone know if Aleem made it to campus this weekend, and if so is there any "chatter" out there on how his visit went?

If he made it, and all went well, I would expect to hear about a commitment within the next week or so...

24-7 sports was right in their Wesson "prediction," but that was an easy one to call. If Aleem made it to our campus this weekend, I am guessing that we still have a good chance. Any word on the visit?

That's what I thought, that it went through today--I have to imagine though that if he gets out of town without committing, then we're probably not going to get it since you can actually sign right now.

I never understand that sentiment...if he doesn't commit before he leaves or within a day, we're not getting him. Some people actually want to think/talk over a major decision like this. Yes, his timeline is somewhat limited given the signing period underway, but if it takes him a few days, so be it.

My recollection of most of our recent commitments is that they did not take place during the visit. The recruit had a chance to go back home, think it over, and I believe we have usually heard back, with the commitment, around Thursday or Friday AFTER the visit. If someone else has a different recollection of our "typical" time after a visit for getting a commitment, please share...

Well there you have it. The Ulla mentioned earlier that Aleem appeared to have greater skills than Wesson; clearly he is more sought after. OSC

How did AF's visit actually go? Any Intel for we might get a clue as to how he is feeling
about UR.

I have only heard "thought the visit went well" -- nothing telling there

it's late in the recruiting season and P5 schools are filling holes. it would be interesting to see stats if there are any on how things turn out for late senior year P5 commitments.

I have a feeling that Aleem has been stretching out his visits and recruitment to get late interest, it seems to be working.

Kind of a bummer, although I think the same conditions exist which is that we have a decent amount of early playing time to offer him.

Hope he doesn't just chase the shiny object...

I could be wrong, but I don't think Michigan and Wisconsin are going to see Ford. Wisconsin is already known to be recruiting one of Ford's teammates, D'Mitrik Trice, who was offered by Ohio State recently. I suspect Michigan is also there to see Trice, and Finkelstein either worded his tweet wrong or was unaware of the connection.

Not quite breaking news... but Aleem is to have an official visit to Wisconsin this weekend with his fellow IMG teammate

EDIT - Visit looks to be tomorrow (Thursday) ... which is a quick turnaround. Doesn't look good

This is a real bummer.

It would seem that Butler is developing a recruiting strategy of just looking to see who we are recruiting.

Butler coaches know we can't close, so a good albeit devious strategy on their part.
They simply realize they are in a P6 conference while we are still a mid major. No comparison; not our coaches fault. OSC
