Like I mentioned before, I try to call things as I see them. As you all know, I think Mooney should have gotten credit for that 24-7 season when evaluating his performance overall the past several years. With that said, why on earth is this being brought up now as if it pertains to this season in anyway? At best, JOC is trying to give UR fans some better memories given this terrible season or at worst, it’s an attempt to deflect from asking any difficult but meaningful questions to why we are in the position we are in this season.

A. Mooney did get credit. The dude has had 2 extensions since then. And 2022 NCAA tournament (where he got the first extention) would not have happened without the covid cancellation. All of the main players on the 2022 season would have graduated. So, Mooney came out smelling like roses through this whole thing.
B. JOC is writing this because he just did an article about how UR is on pace to be on the second team ever to go first to worst in the A-10. So, he needed a counterbalance to that, otherwise the powers that be at the RC will start getting ornery with him and reduce his "access" to information.
The "15 Year Anniversary of the A10 Semifinal win against Xavier" article is probably right around the corner next month.
u have to laugh at the doesn't get credit line. he gets credit, more than anyone anywhere for anything...good.
and btw he gets credit here for 24-7! too. We had a good team, I think we were IN. I've been on record w that a lot. Yet Joe Lunardi, the guy we hired to do our scheduling (and PR) didn't even have us IN until the last bracket when season was over and it didn't matter.
the penance thing is real with JOC. same thing when he dared to very mildly question Moon re: dusan substitution, tho quickly dropped, because why would a 20 year coach & nobody on his staff know such a thing...twice in a game...too much to expect. Except the penance is always way more than whatever the entirely mild thing ever was. '
The CM supporters want both years. The guys were seniors the Covid year. Had the year completed that would have been it, but the Covid year allowed them to return and they made the end of season run into the NCAas.
speaking of 15 years that's about last time we ever had back to back 20 win seasons. 2011 was last time. another crazy metric in the Moon arsenal. crazy bad like the rest of them.
Pay no attention to the 14-9/6-5/first round a10 tournament exit the next year with the same team, please, as that season was rudely derailed by the SLU baseball team.
we were good in 19-20.
we were also good in 21-22.
the games were played. everyone got the extra year.

we were just ok at 14-9. that year was pretty screwed up with ineffective masks and empty arenas.
The state of program now makes it possible that we won't get 24 wins combining this year plus next year.
Yep, we have 6 wins so far. At most I see 2 more. Can we win 16 next year with another roster of mostly new guys?
