2024 FCS Preseason Top 25 Hero:Top 25(the analyst)

Personally, would love to have a seed, but I think matchups are inportant too. Would you all rather have 9 seed and avoid a 2 seed SDSU/3 seed NDSU as long as possible or 7th seed and face the possibility of encountering them in QFs and SFs?

Believe that UR faces a noticeable headwind to get a bye.

Wofford loss plus 4 other teams on schedule weren't so hot..

  • Charleston Southern: 1-11
  • Delaware State: 1-11
  • North Carolina A&T: 1-11
  • Bryant: 2-10

If the choice is being the eighth seed or having to play a game and then face the eighth seed, that's a pretty easy choice. And if we have a shot at the seventh seed instead, I'd rather have a potential matchup with the second seed than the first.

My hypothetical question is would you rather have a 7 seed which gives us a bye but then potentially have SDSU and NDSU on the same side of the bracket, or 9 seed where we don’t have a bye but avoid NDSU/SDSU as long as possible.

The only ways to avoid a top-2 team in the round of 8 are to get a seed in the 3-6 range (not happening) or somehow get matched up with one of those four teams in the round of 16 (probably unlikely). So, I'd rather be well-rested. Give me the bye.

My prediction is we will be a 7 seed and they will have Rhode Island as a 10 seed to play us in the 2nd round. NCAA loves doing stuff like this since we didn’t play each other this year and it’ll minimize travel costs.

Ideal & team would welcome opportunity. The ncaa bball committee likes to create those storylines. Idk if FCS football really cares. Bc there isn’t much attention. Tho it’s argument to create a storyline even if it gives just a tiny more splash.

I still think they can easily fall back on ratings. We don’t look great in Massey & ELO. Tho r above Mercer in ELO. & all close enough u could seed how needed. Then add in lack of advocacy from CAA and Hardt which hurts imo. Knocking down an undefeated auto bid from CAA even w unbalanced scheduling over UIW from Southland would be something.

We’ll see shortly…

Yep predictable. It was very easy to do this to a team departing a league without it looking like a total f u. Hardt has zero pull & the CAA was not going out of its way to help either. If not going to Patriot a different outcome.
