2024 FCS Preseason Top 25 Hero:Top 25(the analyst)

Personally, would love to have a seed, but I think matchups are inportant too. Would you all rather have 9 seed and avoid a 2 seed SDSU/3 seed NDSU as long as possible or 7th seed and face the possibility of encountering them in QFs and SFs?

The bye is incredibly important to allow our guys to rest up. There’s good teams out there. No matter what, but have a week of rest makes a huge difference.

Believe that UR faces a noticeable headwind to get a bye.

Wofford loss plus 4 other teams on schedule weren't so hot..

  • Charleston Southern: 1-11
  • Delaware State: 1-11
  • North Carolina A&T: 1-11
  • Bryant: 2-10

If the choice is being the eighth seed or having to play a game and then face the eighth seed, that's a pretty easy choice. And if we have a shot at the seventh seed instead, I'd rather have a potential matchup with the second seed than the first.

My hypothetical question is would you rather have a 7 seed which gives us a bye but then potentially have SDSU and NDSU on the same side of the bracket, or 9 seed where we don’t have a bye but avoid NDSU/SDSU as long as possible.

The only ways to avoid a top-2 team in the round of 8 are to get a seed in the 3-6 range (not happening) or somehow get matched up with one of those four teams in the round of 16 (probably unlikely). So, I'd rather be well-rested. Give me the bye.
