UR connection to So Help Me Todd (CBS television show)?

Is there some sort of UR connection to this series? One of the last episodes of the season (More Fang For Your Chuck) featured a presumably fictitious hockey team, the Portland Widows. One of the team's colors appears to be red, and the mascot (I couldn't find the imagine online) was named Fang and looked like a scarier version of WebstUR.

Offseason Player Analysis - Jason Roche

Pros/Strengths -

Obviously he has the ability to light it up from 3.
Quick Release, repeatable form.
I also like what I have seen in the midrange - is able to use the quick release to get shots off, From 15 feet in does not seem to need to have his feet set to maintain accuracy.
High Effort Defender - really good awareness and effort on the ball and away from the ball

Areas of Improvement

Using the dribble to create shots for himself. He scores mostly off of catch and shoot now. As noted above I have seen ability to make difficult shots look easy from 10 feet, but does not use it very often.
Scoring at rim. Again, I have seen ability to make layups, 5 footers, but not really beat defenders off the dribble
Defense - while I am in the group that thinks he is a solid defender overall, I have seen teams take effort to isolate him when guarding larger, more physical/athletic players - and have some trouble keeping them from getting to the basket.
I have a critique of his shot. I like the fact that he gets it off so quick, and repeatable. I think it would be better with more arc. When he is off - it seems that it is line drive off the front of the rim. Reminds me a bit of Kendall Anthony. He was a line drive shooter too. You don't want to mess with results, but I wonder if he added arc it would be even better, and would help a little with getting the shot off in a tighter space?
Shooting % dropped off in A10 play, which I know has been debated on here. While we can discuss scheme/plays/coaching, this is an are for improvement for next season. By diversifying his game and putting the ball down and making a shot in the midrange, I think can help him improve his ability to keep the defender off him a little. I think the defenses go the extreme to close out on him. If he can make them pay by putting the ball down and making a play, that will help his three point percentage and effectiveness in conference play.

Next Season

Build on last season. Similar to Randolph, he is a bit piegon holed into a shooter role. I think he can gain more minutes by improving the areas above - make plays off the dribble, whether for himself in the midrange or moving the defense and finding the open teammate. Potential to be a starter minute guy. I think a lot could depend on whether we bring in a do everything guard in the portal. Could see him playing beside King or Dji very easily. My hope is that we find a way in A10 to get him better looks, he is a bit more comfortable, and more diverse in his game this season. I think he has star potential, but just a little bit limited by athleticism.

Offseason Player Analysis - Aidan Noyes

Pros
Has some hops, we saw in his H.S. reels, and in the limited time on the court last season, including the sports center dunk at St. Joes.
Shooting - He looked like a shooter coming out of high school, and in limited action was able to knock down 3's.
I did like his energy on the defensive end.
From the recent article, and interviews in the past, seems to bring a good attitude and expecting to do good things on the court when he gets a chance
Areas of Improvement
Very limited game action so these are more or less areas that are question marks to me at this point:
Lateral quickness - Yes he has some hops, but can he slide and keep guards and quick wings in front of him. And beat his man off the dribble? This is one area that I did not get a real sense, whether he can guard quick guys and if he can create some of his own offense. If he has good lateral quickness we may have our wild card here. And we can use a wild card. If he can move his feet and be a plus defender, I like a 2-3-4 defensively of Dji-Noyes-Bigs that can impact a game.
Strength/weight gain - Sounds like he has put on some weight. But I just don't see the body type to be a guy that can bang inside, but hopefully has a wiry strength to go along with his hops - and can defend and rebound on the interior. I see him as more of a "3" wing type player as his best position. Filling in at the "4" on a more limited basis.
Summary
With the lack of landing an impact forward from h.s. and the portal, a lot rides on Noyes not just getting on the floor and contributing, but contributing in a big way that impacts winning on both ends of the floor. As 97 pointed out, whether we want to bash Mooney or not - if Noyes was that guy it seems like we would have seen him in more last year. Yes we had Burton, but remember this is position less hoops, and as much as I like Bigs, he could not hit an open 3 last year. On the other hand, we had reports that a former player(s?) claimed he was our best NBA prospect, and that was while we had Burton. If he can play like that guy, make 3's, defend and rebound - it really solidifies our front court. Make or break year. I am pulling from him, and I tend to lean to Aidan being that impact player.

Peace Talks with Russia

I thought this deserved its own thread. Girkin posted this on his Telegram channel. The translation was courtesy of Google.

The fact is that a month and a half ago, people whom I trust informed me that very closed negotiations between Moscow and partners were going on at the very top, and Moscow was ready to make the widest concessions, and the partners demanded, as a gesture of goodwill, to cede the Zaporizhzhya NPP to Kiev, promising that in this case, Kiev, having filed the return of Energodar as a "overcome", change anger to mercy and agree to talk. The deadline, according to them, was June 22, and if Moscow refuses the goodwill gesture, the West will give the go-ahead to the second wave of the "counterattack" - with all the forces of "Ukraine", aiming at the Crimean Isthmus and Energodar, and in parallel by organizing attacks on the Kherson region and the border regions of the Russian Federation. Now, I believe, it is already clear that it was not possible to agree, and the two weeks before the NATO summit will be, let's say,

Purely by feeling, I predict the main events for June 26-29, but I cannot predict their outcome, although I believe in the Russian army. If she is not betrayed at the very top, she will stand. I'm just afraid that if she holds out, the Moscow people will use it to conclude a disastrous deal.

US Parts in Russian Missiles

US parts are extensively used in Russian arms. This should really anger all Americans. This happened through both Republican and Democratic administrations.

"The 9M729 cruise missile, which is fired from the Iskander-K short-range ballistic missile system, is one of the Russian military’s most advanced weapons systems with precision-strike capabilities.22 The cruise missile has roughly a half dozen socket attachment points that permit data to move through the heat shield. Some of these socket attachment points were manufactured by U.S. companies. In addition, the rails that affixed the circuit boards to the computer housing—as well as the circuit boards—were manufactured by U.S. companies. The 9M949 300 mm rocket, which is used in Russia’s Tornado-S multiple rocket launcher system, also used a fiber-optic gyroscope manufactured in the United States. Finally, the Russian TOR-M2 air-defense system utilized an oscillator designed in the United Kingdom, which is located in the computer that controls the radar.23

Stevenson Brothers to the UR HOF

Tobin Anderson to Iona

teams like FDU and St Peter's aren't allowed to have nice things!

Anderson parlays his 1 year as a D1 coach into a 5 year contract at Iona.
FDU lost 16 games this year and their conference tournament championship. they wouldn't even have been in the tournament if not for Merrimack being ineligible. their NET ranking was 301.

maybe it works, but that resume is a long way from Pitino's.

There is no Spider Club

I saw someone ask the question about how many Spider Club members there are. Those of us who contribute are designated as members. That’s it. Many years ago there was an active club - I recall being VP in charge of membership. We had regular meetings, planned events to support teams, arranged out of town trips to follow teams, arranged gatherings to hear from Coaches and meet athletes. Many of us were enabled to meet one another. This board is not a substitute. Perhaps the biggest thing lost when the Spider Club went corporate was the loss of access for rank and file fans to the athletic administration. BRING BACK A REAL SPIDER CLUB.

Mission Statement

Found this on AD website:

Derin Saran - 2023 Offer

This 6'4" PG had some discussion in the Recruiting Tracker thread as we were expressing interest, and we've finally offered. Sign that we're running out of immediate-impact transfer options and refocusing on late options coming out of high school? Turkish guy out of Asheville School, same as our recent 2024 offeree Soulis.

Lots of offers, but lower-level. Has taken recent official visits to Wyoming, UC Irvine, and UC Santa Barbara.
