Coach Huesman is a good guy and our team finished strong but it is time to move on. It's a shame that Russ hitched his wagon to his offensive coordinator and system but that'll be the fatal blow his term at Richmond.

I'm looking forward to what comes next. Wachenheim? Chesney? Somebody else?

5 years. Zero playoffs. To me, it’s simple. Move on. This roster was loaded with defensive talent and we didn’t make the playoffs. I haven’t seen anything that would suggest that this staff would make it next year. Give them kudos for finishing strong. But Russ made a horrific hire with Durden and he couldn’t overcome it.

In his postgame Russ sounds like someone who ain’t going anywhere.
Caught a glimpse of him when I was walking my dogs on campus this week and he sure didn't look like a dead man walking the way he carried himself. At this point, my only hope is he fires Durden into the sun should RH be returning.

I'm afraid the four wins to close things out buy him more time. Of course we have no QB for next year and obviously no backup, since we didnt have one this year and it's what doomed us. But at UR, we will find any excuse to maintain the status quo. This year it will be "if Mancuso hadn't gotten hurt...”

The strong finish and the injury to Joe stand a very good chance to save his neck, even though we’re not set up for success going forward.

good way to end the season. Given the tied all time series & WM playing for a playoff spot at home it was probably Russ best W in 5 seasons.

that says it all. Beating an average W&M is the best or one of for sure & its year 5. Look at the kind of schools that make the playoffs in FCS & it’s like how is Richmond not there w some consistency.

no playoffs any year. Losing record overall. Losing record CAA. A big drop off from previous regime. Basically zero big wins. 6 wins is most in year. The prospects for next year r low so what would it do anyway. Very little interest in UR football. Nobody goes to the games. We need a jolt of excitement & likely someone to change the culture offensively.

for a guy that self describes as a “meat and potatoes” guy this seems too easy for Hardt. No doubt that applies to his diet but he actually used it to imply he was a bottom line AD.

only way I see a return is 1) Hardt secretly extended him in past which would take Shady to a new level or 2) we just don’t want to make 2 hires same year in highest profile sports. I believe DTSpider said something to that affect b4 & it has validity. However to me that means Huesman even more likely gone bc the golden boy Mooney is untouchable & back after a crowning NIT achievement.

I think this is a key point. Next year is going to be a rebuild, whether it is with Russ or if it is with someone else.

I believe at my last count we had 11 fifth year or grad students in two deep. I don’t know if the fifth yr guys get aa other year. It’s QB and linemen that will be the problem areas for whomever is coach

All we can hope is that some of these QB’s at 5 deep power 5 schools will want to play right away and transfer. Russ is just such a poor recruiter, it makes it hard to think we will get one.

6 wins again next year best hope.

Yeah, there has to be another Michael Strauss floating around out there somewhere. Go get em.

I do believe if JM didn't get hurt that there would have been a good chance to make the playoffs. He's a good QB and makes things happen. Without him, our offense was AWOL. We had no legit backup, and the record and limited point production w/out JM reflects that.

Next year, I think we're right back there again. Probably a good defense & good receivers. We've got to have a legit QB to run the offense & a legit QB backup. I'm just not seeing a winning season next year, but based upon what I've seen from RH & the stats (winning pct conference & overall, no championships, no playoffs, bad OC), it's time to move on.

I hope there is not an effort by the admin to move UR to The Patriot League or horrors D3!

Tick, tock, tick tock...

I realize JOC had 1 whole article on Hardt talking about how they'll meet at end of year like always, but JOC loves to be the agent of any coach who does well at UR and speculates endlessly about possible interest in other jobs but when it comes to our job there is none. perhaps he doesn't want to kill his access I get that it's still a little funny.

I would say it's not happening. If UR was making a move, there is no sense in waiting. Further proof that we care more about winning than the school. Harder and harder to be a fan!

Ugh. I suspect Hardt gave an extension over the summer. Would seem consistent with our general approach of spiking the ball on the 5 yard line.

32, given what we have returning for 2022 - and understanding there will be some comings and goings - where would you put the o/u on Spider Football wins next fall based on what you know today?

Finding a decent O coordinator and a transfer QB are essential. Won't be able to rely on a dominant D line like we dos this year.

Short of killing someone inside the Robins Center in front of 7,000 people, what does a UR coach have to do to get fired? Truly unconscionable garbage coming from this athletic department. Unbelievable.

A number of those ”seniors” that walked have eligibility..Check Kobe eligibilty.

The offensive line can be good. The true frosh are very good.If our anchor returns, upside.

RBs will be at full force. We had 3 out all year.

DBs all young have another year under belt.

LBs will be quick but smaller sans Dressler.

QB-Wickersham & Hardy -no play experience but both have all physical characteristics.Wouldn't be surprised if we get transfer

No JMU game next year which is a usual auto loss.

if we flip CAA schedule- Home-UNH,Stony,WM,Nova
Away- UD,Monmouth,Towson,Elon
Home-St Francis
Away-UVa,Lehigh

The QB issue is the huge wildcard. If they mature quickly,8 wins.If not 6-5,best case with tons of luck.

having talent on the roster has not done any good for the last five tears, as long as they win five or six , must be good enough for them anyway, counting on the same staff to to suddenly be quarterback experts is a joke , the last quarterback transfer was bo how did that work out? and dont forget the recruits who were not ready to play. and why fire durden and keep the guy who complained about the play calling of a guy , who he is in charge of , its clear they just dont care.

20+ season ticket holder in both sports. Resigned myself to Huesman but if Durden is back, have 0 plans to renew the season tickets. What's most pathetic is Hardt won't even say if he received an extension or not and hasn't addressed the shortcomings of a rudderless football program.

Five years, zero playoff appearances = extension. Seriously, what in the actual F are we doing here? How can anyone defend this? It's impossible to defend. Hardt is a damn idiot.

Hardt makes Keith Gill look like Jim Delaney/Dave Gavitt. We gave him grief all the time for telecommuting, but at least it wasn't his retirement gig.

(This is not an endorsement of Keith Gill)

Huesman will return. UR won’t discuss his contract status.

what’s maddening is there r not even statements from Hardt. And I absolutely hate that U of R consistently hides behind the private school bs to never discuss contract details of our highest paid highest profile employees. There is no accountability just hiding in the corners.

I wonder what our new Pres Hallock would say about disclosing executive compensation. He’s written extensively on the topic. Somehow I don’t think his conclusions said they should be secret.

I’ve tried to sound the alarm for years on Hardt. He’s simply the worst. That’s not just me saying it but coming from very respected individuals. I expect he also knew he couldn’t make a good hire w people not wanting to work 4 him unless it was his old buddy Dr. Nassar from Michigan.

Saw this tweet today. 1-14 vs playoff teams. Nothing says run it back like that. More than that, as if there should even be other reasons, is no energy in fball program, the game atmosphere is morbid and was pre covid. I used to have lot of interest myself I’m now barely it. Thought a new coach could rejuvenate. We’ll be in same spot next year book it.

It'll be far worse in a year because now the ruse that UR actaully cares is over.

I don't know how many ticketholders are left but I'm one of them. And I'm done.
