What's next?

Short of killing someone inside the Robins Center in front of 7,000 people, what does a UR coach have to do to get fired? Truly unconscionable garbage coming from this athletic department. Unbelievable.
Hardt would say that if we have a full house that the coach filled the stands…keeps job. If the stands were empty…not enough witnesses -> keeps job.

Hardt isnt going to do squat. If a coach wins anything (ideally preseason kudos) he gives out an extension. If somehow a contract expires, he’ll hire someone from Bucknell.

there’s 300+ division 1 programs so I’m sure there is a worse AD out there…but it’ll take some effort to find one.

That's a little extreme, EL. A couple of DUI's ought do it...

Honestly, it begs the question of what else Michael Schaefer did, in addition to losing a lot of basketball games.

Schaefer was only minding a budget of, what, $1.5-2MM? Our football budget is 4 times that much.

How close was Hardt to his women 's coach at Bucknell? Perfect storm for fulfilling a promise, end of contract, losing record, etc.

I knew he would be re-hired as soon as they won their last game. “Be competitive” should be our school’s motto.

By winning I mean playoffs and being a contender, but okay.

and wasn’t that the standard our incompetent AD has publicly stated numerous times. To “compete” for conf championships and postseason berths. Which we haven’t done in Huesman 5 year tenure. First year was closest with an NFL QB. Yet we don’t even get any statements about why sticking with him & how he’s the right guy going fwd. I guess banking on nobody noticing. Hardt probably extended him b4 with our typical lack of transparency.

Or maybe we just can’t afford it with all the $ we r paying for the building naming commission & surveys.

I’m trying to figure out why you actually would keep Huesman. Presumably there weren’t years left on contract which is most obvious reason. There doesn’t appear to be good reason to think the team will be a ton better, so it’s not performance.

It feels like it’s just entropy, don’t need to do a search or potentially put more money down.

Befuddling.

Who knows what goes on in these decisions, but this was a playoff caliber team until Mancuso got hurt and his first game back seemed too quick, but it appeared he was the best option. At any rate four loses with him out or playing hurt and the offensive side coaches had no patchwork options.
The defense had key players out at times and still performed.

The spring is what it was, but added together the team is 9 and 6, for the year, and 7 and 5 in conference.

Could be Huesman wanted to make this move earlier and was not given the green light. I might be stretching here.

Seems I read somewhere 53 members of the football team made the honor roll this spring, and they are after all students first. I would think that matters some in these decisions if the decision is close one way or the other.

AD might be thinking give it another season and see.

Just guessing on my part.

We'll be bad next year, so then what? Give him another year to see if his recruits pan out? Then what if a key player is hurt that year, give him another because of injury again? We can play this game forever, and it appears that at UR, we do so eagerly time and again.

Injuries are so rare in football.

I've seen enough..EXTEND Huesman and kick a few years extension to Mooney while we are at it so he doesn't feel left out.

so as far as we know all the coaches except durden are back? dont know why they think it has to be such a secret
