Tyler turns 23 w/Grant attending - aka Loyola Chicago Game Thread

Absolutely…now if we can get Roche & Dji to make that same jump, which I thought Roche looked more aggressive yesterday as well and Dji took a few baby steps forward in that regard too. Was it me or was that most back door cuts we’ve hit in a while or at least this season?
Looked like Grace to Goose some. Then 5 high post passes (in 5 minutes) from Walz, all were fast, 3 were caught...

No question it looked like the Spiders of old. However, it may be a product of Loyola Chicago being new to the A10. Andre said during his post game that he hadn’t been defended that way (“almost hugging me” or something similar) all year and took advantage of it. Kudos for the recognition, but I am thinking most of the A10 is not going to guard that close and why would they with a team shooting 31% from 3 in conference play.

I attended the Fordham game. And, although we won (and I'll always take a win), I was surprised by the lack of passing and the dominant game plan that looked like one-on-one drive or back your man to the hoop. It worked. But yesterday was a great display of team passing, cutting, moving.. The team looked together and confident. Neal was really on until the injury. I was really pleased to see Mike Walz get serious time in the first half. He seemed very comfortable and confident. I'm looking forward to seeing him develop in the coming years. Bottom line-I hope the Spiders can play the rest of their games the way they played yesterday. And, oh yeah, they didn't fold at the end. Great game Spiders!

I will miss Tyler Burton. We were lucky as hell to have a kid with his raw talent, athletic ability and heart. We have not had such and all around player in my 6 decade involvement with UR. He will flourish in the pro setting outside of the outdated Mooney system. Wish him all the success in the world during the next phase of his athletic career.

Expect him to take off at the next level like all our other recent graduates have while everyone stares in amazement "wow never saw him do THAT at Richmond!"

You must have been a baby, our number one scorer in Spiders history was another 6-7 forward by the name of Johnny Newman. He led Richmond to an upset of the Auburn led star, Charles Barkley. GO SPIDERS!!!

I watched Newman for four years. He was a super player and a great scorer, Burton is just a better all around athlete for sure. Compare their stats it’s very interesting . Newman with more points and Burton with 150 more rebounds and 100 less turnovers.
