Looks like we're still on Tedrick Wilcox.
Sort of feels like a sad list we are competing against there…
From about a month ago, but interesting.

So that list has shrunk I gather then? Interesting, not sure what to think.
Looking forward to seeing news about a campus visit as that would be the first sign of true mutual interest. I don’t know how the portal works, but perhaps there is some sort of tracking of what schools “look” at a player profile and that becomes the data that is cited. If so, the “interest” boils down to basic info gathering, which is step one for all teams with open roster spots. We seem to be interested in most everyone.Anyone interested in us?
Agreed. I don’t expect to see any one year players and I actually think CM needs 3 year guys. This is an under the radar guy who now has college experience to prove that he can play at the mid-major level versus a flyer on a high school player. Got one of those last year. Seems like this would be the rarest type of player in the portal though with the 1 year grad player being the most common (biased by the Covid rule). Will be interesting to see how the portal changes after next year, which I believe is the last of the “extra year” wave.We could take a 1 year guy but our stated focus is multi year guys so I’m skeptical of being strong on 1 year guys until proven otherwise.
he really needs a guy to have 6 years of eligibility to get him up to speed. We need at least one year for Mooney to figure out how to use a new guy, and then another year for the same thing.
Good stuffHad some guys on campus today playing pickup and Trevor Smith was here as well playing.
Yep the fans seem pretty high on DeLoach. He seems more interested in some of the other schools. I do think that they will look to add more offense.Saw DeLoach had SDSU as a finalist
I think the portal is starting very slow for us. Of course, same for SDSU - so I think things will really pick up next week - at least with hearing some things about who is visiting and players narrowing down. Will be very interesting to see who we get. Three nice pick ups last off season, but all with defined holes in their game. We really need to snag a complete guard that can score off the dribble and play D. If Burton comes back we really need an athletic forward that can score.
Fernandez has one year though. but there's not much remaining at the point. If Noah Fernandes is healthy, he would be my top guard. Big if and no idea what his ideas are for next school. But like his game, good PG skills and also good 3Pt percentage.
I will add that there is a good chance there are a few guys we're talking to who won't be reported by these twitter accounts. As far as I know, these portal accounts just DM every guy in the portal and ask for lists, visits, etc, and I'd imagine there are more than a few guys who don't give them any info.last year's 3 transfers were all pretty impactful.
could be wrong but looking at MD's chart I'm getting the sense that this year's class will likely yield only depth.
unless we get a Brumbaugh level guy, I doubt a PG we bring in will be more talented or ready than Dji and Smith. we may even see Randolph as a 3rd PG we're comfortable with in a pinch.
a Burke Smith type could battle with Walz, but he isn't beating out Quinn.
none of the shooters are better than Roche.
the forwards don't look likely to beat out Noyes or Tanner ... much less Bigelow.
maybe I just woke up feeling pessimistic today but I think our improvement next season will likely have to come from within. I was more optimistic about the prospects in last year's portal.
Well, we can officially cross of the list of "never lost an important piece to transfer" off the list of Mooney attributes. While I was certainly disappointed in Jaynel's season, it was also clear that he has the highest upside of anyone in our guard room. So, this leaves our guard situation at present very weak and Mooney clearly has to go out and get a stud in that position. Like a lot of things, I question whether he is up to that task.So much for family atmosphere, pine trees and leafy campus. Jaynel's moving on and Mooney's stubbornness on several fronts signals the good days of 55% are over. Get ready for sub 50% seasons. I'm afraid Mooney can't succeed in the new basketball world.
We lost Khwan Fore to Louisville, who was a very important player for us.Well, we can officially cross of the list of "never lost an important piece to transfer" off the list of Mooney attributes. I feel like when Khwan left, that was the domino that was foreshadowing of the transfer portal peril. We lost Khwan Fore to Louisville, who was a very important player for us.
I guess "stud" is a relative term. the guard from Brown ... nice player but not someone I'd not call a stud ... got scooped up by UNC. we're not competeing with UNC for transfers. so I'm not betting on a stud.Well, we can officially cross of the list of "never lost an important piece to transfer" off the list of Mooney attributes. I wasn't forgetting Khwan, but he was a grad transfer, slightly different circumstance. Personally, think Nelson has a higher upside than Khwan but certainly that didn't materialize this year.We lost Khwan Fore to Louisville, who was a very important player for us.
There are about 1,100 players in the portal. I hardly think Jaynel is the only one leaving a program with a leafy campus, pine trees and family atmosphere. So much for family atmosphere, pine trees and leafy campus. Hopefully in 6 years we’ll have a new coach, and this won’t be an issue.he really needs a guy to have 6 years of eligibility to get him up to speed.
