The Andrew White?!?

Ultimate troll. He lands at Broad Street, it will be awfully tough for him to not be most hated opponent ever, especially with such a late misdirection. Maybe the Whites just hate Mooney and want to turn him down as painfully as possible.

Have a feeling you have all been duped.... Had a kid in there for basketball camp and all the stands are up against the wall to fit extra courts... This is an old picture....

RollSpides, that was the thought I had, could easily be an old pic. and that is the one exposing a "visit"? We've been practicing for Europe he could come and watch that. & while I respect that the guy is trying to do a spider blog/twitter fact is he's usually wrong. Some of the stuff he posts on here too is odd. Sorry A10Talk has a lot more credibility.

lot of guys have used our gym esp in summer, even some vcu guys, it goes both ways. no prob if coaches open it up like that. That said, if the pic is very recent, and given the history of White recruitment at UR, if he's about to sign with VCU well come on Mooney that's just a bad bad look.

I would take White at UR don't get me wrong he would help us. My only concern is TJ and SDJ have paid their dues and are very good scorers. Nobody can come in and think they're going to take all the shots and avg low-mid 20s game. If you're willing to be part of a trio and avg more like 15 ok it works. But it's not happening anyway.

"Sorry A10Talk has a lot more credibility. ". Think this was discussed before that the author of A10Talk is a vdu alumnus. OSC

A VCU alumnus who runs a VCU fan site, fairly connected to the VCU AD, the local scene and worked in the UR AD. Not to mention other writers at A10 talk being connected at their respective schools.

Agree with Gkiller, if he signs with VCU and was practicing in our gym this week, Mooney has smaller stones than I thought. I mean come on and have a bit of self respect.

as much as we have all smoozed and drooled over this guy, has he ever done anything at either school that would make one think that he would be great or even play at this level? some players plateau in high school and just never take the next step, in all sports.

This is getting funny, now brunt is c*!* blocking us. I really think he is looking for a bigger name school/conference. Not sure why the spider blogger is posting this stuff, but could have talked to aw's dad and been duped as well.

Oh well, not quite an April fool's joke but sounds like AW will not be coming to UR...... more time for our incoming freshman class. Looking forward to seeing DMB, Sherod and Golden at the RC in the fall.

The only way AW goes to vdu is he cannot get in anywhere else; much like others who attend vdu. OSC

All this from them (AW II and AW III) is somewhat hilarious actually. He has no shot at the NBA - - before or after next year and no matter where he plays next year. He has one marginal NBA skill and mutiple (from an NBA standpoint) weaknesses. NIce college player, but simply not an NBA player. Period.

He got that feedback in the pre-draft process this year and somehow Dad (I assume) didn't hear "not good enough" he heard that the problem was the school he played at?? He averaged 16 and 6 in part because the school he played at has so little else! I cant imagine too many top level BCS schools will actually want him because he and Dad have made it clear that next year for Andrew will be all about him and making him look good for NBA etc. He sure isn't sounding like someone who just wants to go somewhere and be a contributor and do what he can to help a team win etc. Quite certain he is asking for a 30+ minute guarantee and that "all about me" is why places like MIchigan State are backing off. There are more than enough desperate coaches though that he'll find a place willing to sell out to get him. Just note that places like Kansas with Self and Michigan State with Izzo - - highly respected coaches are not going to be it.

And I am curious about the Cuse too - - seems like exactly what he should want! Why hasn't he just jumped on that? Oh yeah, the NBA says his problem is he can't defend in Man at the NBA level and he can't prove that playing in the Cuse 2-3. So Dad is probably negotiating to get Cuse to change defenses if they want Andrew. I can hear it now . . . " I know Coach Boeheim that the 2-3 at Syracuse is an institution and the whole program is built around it and you have been hugely successful with it , but this is my son Andrew White (the THIRD) we are talking about here and surely you can see why you'd want to make whatever changes are necessary to get such a legendary player."

I am sure there are players like this and families like this all over the place, but our closeness to this one makes it funny (but sad) to watch over such an extended period. Andrew will be a pro, but it'll be Europe and he will be on 9 teams in 11 years a (sorta like college - -) and will multiple times reappear to try out the NBA in the Summer League or D league etc.

Think the Spiders will be good this year, IMHO Andrew would tip the scale for us to an NCAA bid and beyond. Having said that, it could enhance our subsequent recruiting and thus propel us to future tournament appearances. But that's just my opinion. OSC
Define good? I think we need to be prepared for a tough rebuilding season. Dramatic improvement by the end of the season is a reasonable expectation.

re: Does anyone know the NCAA record for # of schools visited?

You can only take 5 officials per year, ---assuming he took 5 as a senior in high school, 5 after transferring from Kansas and 5 now, that would be 15 Max for him. Must have taken them all.

So I'm not sure on the interpretation of the applicable NCAA bylaws, but here is 13.6.2.3, which says you're allowed a maximum of ten, five before you graduate from high school and five starting October 15 of the year after you finish high school:
The one-visit limitation and the limitations on total official visits apply separately to the period before October 15 following the prospective student-athlete's completion of high school and to the period beginning October 15 following the prospective student-athlete's completion of high school. Thus, a prospective student-athlete may be provided a maximum of 10 official visits -- five before October 15 following his or her completion of high school and five beginning October 15 following his or her completion of high school. A prospective student-athlete is not required to graduate from high school in order to receive a permissible post-high school visit.
Now, there is an additional Bylaw 13.6.2.3.2 addressing transfer students, but it's not clear to me whether there is any adjustment to the larger limit of ten visits in these situations:
If a student-athlete attending a four-year institution desires to transfer and that institution provides the permission required (per Bylaw 13.1.1.3), it is permissible for a second institution to provide the student-athlete one official visit to that institution's campus.

It would not surprise me to see the 3 best single game performances of the last three years this season. However it also would not surprise me to see more "what happened?" games this season than any of the last three.

I think AW and his family like the recruiting process a lot more than they do actually playing basketball. They sure like to be fawned over an awful lot. Textbook case of being a primadonna.

He would add a lot to our team and I would be excited if he signed with us, but also think he would be very disruptive to team chemistry if he came on board.

As long as he doesn't go to VCU and burn us for 30 points a game when he plays us and leads them on an NCAA run, I could care less where he ends. Miami, Syracuse, whatever, just sign somewhere man, it is August already.

Really couldn't care less where this clown ends up. I for one hope he doesn't end up here, he is only about himself, I think the disruption would far outweigh the benefits of AW3 being a Spider. I wish him luck, but I don't see him landing at a marquee program like he and his dad seem to think he deserves.

And that doesn't include any unofficials... I don't think he ever used one at UR, VCU, NC State or even Georgetown. The number is probably over 20.

Didn't Jamal Brunt sign a "can't recruit players you met at Richmond when you go to Miami clause?"
