The Andrew White?!?

When you know in your heart that the biggest mistake you ever made was not becoming a Richmond Spider you return and dream about what might have been..................

Imagine had Andrew and Marshall committed to be Spiders right out of high school. Good times, fine education, and likely a few more NCAA tournaments. It's never too late. OSC

I see the source is from someone who is a spider fan. Not sure how reliable the information is or if it's another joke. But if it's true, it would be great to possibly land this guy!

The photo appears to be of Andrew, De'monte and Mr. White, Andrew's dad. OSC

We are actually recruiting his dad this time, who still has eligibility remaining. I think he gives us a nice option off the bench.

I hope this means he has an interest and not just wanting to visit some friends. It's getting late for Andrew White so I'm sure a decision is imminent. I think UR would be great for him! A lot of playing time and an opportunity to showcase himself against a solid OOC schedule of ours and a strong A10.

17, not to mention being able to play in front of family and friends. Andrew could also experience the Robins Center, UR faculty, beautiful campus and great food. Roll Spide! OSC

I dont believe working out in the RC is any indication of a visit.

The more likely scenario Is that he is bored and stopped by to watch us get ready for Europe. He obviously likes UR, but I think we are permanently in the friend zone.

It has been pointed out on this board many times that this would be a great landing spot for Andrew, given who we graduated. However, I will believe it when I see it. And if he decides to come here, then it is up to admissions...

well with the length of time our admissions take for one-year guys, paperwork and perusal and decision should be about as long as it has taken him to decide to come here, oh, about 4 years which means he will be on the 2020 team.

2020 could be a very good year! OSC

Seems like according to this guy, AWIII is going to Michigan State. Most likely AWIII was working out at Richmond and wanted to catch up with friends. Only time will tell

See tweet above! This is getting interesting! OSC

Definitely getting interesting! Seems Iike Syracuse is his next likely destination. No idea what's going on behind the scenes but hope AWIII is considering us!

Seems like quite a play list these days...

But a few are still hoping for one more encore...

IF Andrew ever becomes a Spider I will embrace him fully and root for him as hard as I can. But for now I maintain that we shouldn't want him and will be better off in the long run without him.

FWIW, a timeline:

June 25 - Andrew White requests transfer from Nebraska.

July 2-3 - Andrew visits Syracuse.

July 7 - Malcolm Bernard de-commits from Richmond.

July 16-17 - Andrew visits Michigan State.

July 18 - Malcolm commits to Xavier.

July 30 - Andrew visits Richmond.

July 30 - Michigan State reportedly no longer in picture. Richmond reported to be an option.

Have only listed those reports by the press, none are from message boards save for the photo of Andrew in the Robins Center. So at this juncture, this is what we know. OSC

yep the press always gets if right --- I don't know what is going on, I suspect we would welcome AW if he decided to spend his final year at UR, but I don't believe we are actively pursuing him any longer. Chris has shown a history of remaining loyal to the kids he offers, even when they do not become Spiders

I'd love to have AW3 come here, but a picture of him getting up shots in the RC doesn't mean diddly squat. This is probably not the first time he's worked out in our gym.

Props to Spider Hoops Blog for getting the photo out there to get everyone talking.

I disagree with the bolded part...but only on a Saturday night in December...

Think the Spiders will be good this year, IMHO Andrew would tip the scale for us to an NCAA bid and beyond. Having said that, it could enhance our subsequent recruiting and thus propel us to future tournament appearances. But that's just my opinion. OSC

Agreed about him shooting in the RC not meaning anything...he's been there a number of times.

Would like to hear from 32 about the basis for his claims in the tweet.

Just in case my convoluted statement wasn't decipherable...
I meant his shooting in the Robins Center DOES mean something. But only if it is during a regular season game...

I'm not getting my hopes up but..... White would give the Spiders a legitimate 3rd double-digit scorer in addition to Cline and SDJ. From White's perspective, why not play your final year in your hometown where he'll get plenty of minutes and opportunity. I'm sure visibility is higher at defending champ Syracuse but I can't imagine he will get as much PT as he would at UR.

Moreover, with all the former Spiders working in the NBA, Andrew would surely get noticed. OSC

Not to mention all the dollars his family could save on transportation costs to see him play.............
