St Joe’s game observations

But poorly coached. Lack of basic fundamentals, especially defensively. This is standard fare with Mooney.
When the team makes threes they are very hard to beat. When they don't the "coach' has no plan B. I would just once like to see a double stack or a double low post offense instead of having the whole team outside the three point line with only Burton and occasionally one other guy going to the offensive boards. Moonman has had these guys for five years and has taught them one offensive set and has NEVER even tried to implement offensive rebounds (ODU anyone?) or attempted to stress low post interior help defense. How many layups did ST. Joes have tonight? How many fouls did Golden have on him???
I think the team will have a good A10 record only because I don't think the conference is that good this year. It will be very interesting to see how St. Joes does the rest of the year.

7 of 18 on layups, so Spiders not so great inside tonight either.

St Joes 9 of 14 layups

Well I feel like Moonman and this group have been building up to this one for years. Got a full dose of all the bad crap he has built. Terrible defense, crushed on boards, soft both physically and mentally, rotations and playing time that make no sense, no coaching answers for when things go wrong. And tonight, we couldn’t shoot either. But hey, we didn’t turn it over which seems to be the biggest principle of Mooneyball! Expect this tape to make the rounds in the A-10.

I await the “explanations” (I.e. excuses) from the Mooney posse to explain this one away! Already see a thread it’s the refs fault. What else will we hear?

What we saw tonight is 100% a team which 100% reflects its coach and I guess it’s not surprising given 5 and 6 years of his influence. He was probably right bout this being the best class ever, but the more time they spend with him the worse the get! That sure says a lot !

Don't worry, if we beat Saint Louis the Mooney slurpers will claim all is well.

My observations:
1. Joes came out bodying us on D from the jump and generally got away with it; they set the tone
2. We did not play physically on D at any point
3. The guys took a lot of bad/no angles on dribble drive; we are incredibly bad at defending this aspect of the game
4. When you’re down 15-20 points in the 2nd half, coach might want to press full court, especially when your half court D blows donkey****
5. We are not built to survive a bad shooting night because we don’t rebound on O. And we missed a lot of shots, just an obscene amount.

Mr TBone., you are finally coming around. Your list was spot on.

St Joe's is the 142nd ranked adjusted defensive efficiency team in the country. What are we going to do when number 94, number 72, or number 3 comes around? Mooney is going to crap down both legs.

I think there is anti-crap medicine in his little cup also.
