Saint Louis

I mean, it's a pretty good strategy. They might finish the season 2-0 in the A-10. Brilliant!

I think I read you had to play 13 games to be eligible for post season; so they need to go 5-0!

Good article on SLU. They're back to individual workouts as of yesterday, but won't have a full practice until the middle of next week at the earliest.

With at least six games needing rescheduled and it looks like there may more to come given they're supposed to be at UMass next Wednesday, McGlade admits there's no way SLU is going to get a full slate in, but she's hoping they can get at least 14 in.

Currently ranked in the top 25. Has yet to play an A-10 game. Haven't played a game since December 23......

It is kind of ridiculous that they have gone up in the ranking despite not playing a game in over 3 weeks. I mean jeez, if we would have gone on COVID hiatus before the Hofstra game and not played since, we would still be ranked, I guess.

It's a bit surprising, although they did a pretty good job of passing the eye test in the games they did play, so that helps them. That LSU win is looking really nice.

UMass game officially postponed. That's seven A-10 games they'll have missed.

Yeah, that article I linked on Thursday in this thread addresses it a little bit. McGlade acknowledges there's no way SLU is going to be able to make them all up. They'll get in as many as they can.

I'm not having the time to see what the plan is, but it seems like it would be impossible for SLU to make these games up??? What is the contingency plan?

yeah I think they have just ran out of time. They might be able to squeeze in 2 MAYBE 3 max of the missed games somewhere. That is assuming they don't get shutdown once again before season's end

I don't think it's in anyone's best interest to squeeze games in, especially right before the tournament. reschedule rivalry games like us and VCU. cancel the others.

They have 8 days between scheduled games on January 29 (@ us) and February 6 (@ GW), so hopefully they can get one or maybe two makeups in there. And there's the final weekend of the regular season that was left open specifically for makeups (we're supposedly looking to make up the Bona game then), but beyond that it'll be tough to fit anything in.

SLU taking a page out of the St. Louis Cardinals playbook when they missed like three weeks at the start of the MLB season. I don't see how SLU could play enough games at this point to realistically qualify as league champ even if it goes undefeated in them.

How many OOC games did the Bonnies miss?

It looks like the prediction for played games this season is:
SBU 17
UMass 18
SLU 19
Dayton 22
Davidson 24
UR 24
URI 25
Bona had to cancel their Mohegan Sun appearance at the start of the season...that was four games: Vermont, Towson, SFA, and Army. Then their games against St. Francis and Buffalo got canceled due to positive tests in those programs. So they officially missed 6 OOC games. They only got two games in, Hofstra and Akron, and I guess they never scheduled a ninth OOC game...not totally sure on that.

I thought they missed 7. I guess I was counting the ninth game as Canisius or Niagara...

Yeah, they were tentatively supposed to play Canisius and Niagara, but by the time schedules were "finalized" heading into the season, they weren't on there. Bona tried to get Canisius on as a quick replacement game after Buffalo had to cancel, but they couldn't make it work.

Its going to be very hard for the committee to determine tourney at large teams considering there will be a huge disparity in games played. Id say they will say “we cant punish teams because they couldnt get the fames in” and value teams who played only 15 games the same as those who played 25. I dont think that bodes well for us with the loss to Hofstra and no chance at a really signature win.
say we end up 19-6 and St Louis is 13-3 and Bonnies are 16-4 with comparable wins... they would get in over us, imo. I see this year being more about bad losses than big wins because many teams had no control over who they eventually played.

I think they may also lean in favor of the big name teams who've historically done well even more than usual if comparing teams that haven't played a full slate of games.

I'll believe it when i see it...
With SLU not getting back to practice until Friday (maybe), their Saturday game against Bona has been postponed, so they’re up to 8 missed A-10 games. Bona will instead head to Duquesne this weekend.

If you search our players on google, the tag above the link to their Spiders roster page says SLU Billikens > sports > roster. We must be paying top dollar to whoever runs our site.

We really REALLY need SLU to win this game. It would be typical for us to have them lose to Dayton at home, thereby guaranteeing that they will come here and wax us.
