RECRUITING AREAS

Bill Polin enters his eighth season at Richmond in 2015. Polin will be the tight ends coach after coaching running backs the previous two yeats. Before that, Polin was the tight ends coach the two seasons prior. Previously, Polin served as offensive line coach during his first four seasons with the Spiders.

Under Polin's guidance, RB Seth Fisher had a tremendous season for the Spiders, earning All-American honors and First-Team All-CAA distinction. Fisher scored 16 touchdowns in 2014, rushing for 777 yards on 170 carries.

In 2013, Polin and his tight ends corps helped the Richmond offense set nearly every single school passing record. In total, the offense set six single-game, eight season and one career passing mark.

Coaching tight ends in 2012, the Richmond tight ends were as formidable a group as there was in the conference. Led by All-American Kevin Finney, the group proved to be a vital asset for a team that ranked 20th in the nation in passing offense and third in sacks allowed.

Since joining the staff, Polin has coached a talented unit of offensive linemen that has garnered five All-Conference honors and 12 different All-America awards. That list is headlined by Matt McCracken, who was a two-time First Team All-CAA Football pick and a consensus First Team All-America as a senior in 2009.

Polin came to the Spiders from Division II Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. where he served as the offensive coordinator in 2007. Prior to his position at Stonehill, Polin served as the running backs at Hofstra.

Building an impressive college coaching resume, Polin started his career with Division III Middlebury as the tight ends and assistant offensive line coach. From there, he served as offensive line coach at Dartmouth and later at Virginia for two seasons as a graduate assistant from 2004-05.

In 2005, following the departure of four assistant coaches from the UVa staff prior to the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, Polin coached the offensive line in a 34-31 win over Minnesota.

Polin is a 2000 graduate of Colby College with a degree in American studies. Polin and his wife, Celia, were married in July 2008 and have a daughter, Marianna, and son, William.

Impressive that Coach Polin has worked through three coaching changes Scott, Linenberg and Rocco and at least three coaching roles: OL, TE and RB...

With Fisher, Moon, Hamlin and others I'm hoping he feels pretty good going into this season...didn't someone once say a solid running game wins games in November?

Good luck...

Bill has made it through a bunch of UR head coaches and has had differing position responsibilities. This year is no different as he moves from backfield to tight ends coach. We are young, big and full of promise at that position if OC finally integrates them into the offensive attack.Recruiting includes offensive players along with New England coverage,my old stomping grounds for which I remain in contact with Bill about potentials players.
