OT: Trey Whitfield

recall, sadly, Trey's accident and also the accident that took the life of another recruit from manchester high school, believe, Joe Green, before they stepped on campus.

Dick Tarrant was estatic when Trey signed with us. The young man had a 4.3 scholastic average, and had chosen us over Connecticut and Purdue. Such a tragedy.

Back then there was not a ton of recruiting information as there is today - usually a few blurbs in a RTD article. There was a big buzz around Trey's comittment - as Stork noted he was being recruited by a lot of big schools and probably would be considered a top 50 recruit in today's world. Sounded like a really good guy too.

One of the sadder events that concerned our basketball program. Trey was excited and committed to being a Spider.
