Nice Ink for Ken Atkinson in WashPost

Thanks - that works - and enjoyed reading about Kenny - particularly his personal interest with each player.................

KA inherited a tough situation, with the terrible trade for a past prime Paul Pearce and Kevin Garnett. I think he has done about as much as possible. I am interested to see if Chris Fleming tries to throw his hat in the ring for college positions? He may try to follow KA's path: 1) Successful HC in Europe > Well respected NBA assistant > NBA HC. If I recall, he did have a lot of success as a HC in Europe, and also was well thought of enough to be appointed the German national coach.

He is doing a great job with the Nets, and is one of the best coaches in the NBA. That Nets team is fun to watch.

I'd certainly have Fleming very high on list if I thought it had better chances. I'd agree unlikely but never know. Fleming with a couple assistants with college recruiting experience & watch out.

Check out this nugget...if Nets continue to do well he could get his NBA shot too. While overseas career tracked more to NBA it doesn't mean he wouldn't love UR and college bball. That would probably take some innovative, aggressive thinking and advocacy by our AD which is likely not in his wheelhouse.

Spider23 talked him up in the Next Coach thread so he's on it. Heck if Rick Stansbury can make one person's list then Fleming should be on a hundred. CoachFezz list at minimum.

Good find on Fleming, GK. That is from March 2017.

His wikipedia page reaffirms what I recall: very successful coaching in Europe. He took over a club, had success to move them up a league, then won the championship. There used to be some videos out on his offensive philosopy, and was known as an innovator. I do like thinking outside the box. I feel like a lot of the guys we are mentioning would probably not risk leaving their situation now, unless for a major conference. Not sure if Fleming would consider, but I would have him on my list to reach out to if I were Hardt.
