That’s good because I blame you for the Drake loss.
Thankfully I walked almost 2 miles from downtown Des Moines to the Drake campus and then back after the game to partially get me over the frustration of that loss before heading to airport bar. Did have a great chat on plane with the former Spider steals record holder before Mr. Gilyard who was headed out west for a conference and not back on charter.

Wolfpack continuing to hold the Boilermakers at bay. Certainly not counting chickens yet, but hopeful they can pull it out.

A bit of the shine is off the potential win considering Purdue already lost to Rutgers, but they still have the #1 in front of their name and definitely would be a a great win that should give State a big NET boost.

Bonus basketball because neither team knows how to inbound the ball.

Brutal missed goaltending call, but still would have been a big uphill climb for the Wolfpack.

Missed golden opportunity for NC State.

I have purchased 32 tickets and am taking a customer group to the event. Spending 2 nights at Hyatt Place. I can reserve hotel rooms at discounted rate for Spiders.
8 or so of us are staying their too - worked out well as our place for Davidson game in 2020

I didn't watch NCSt / Purdue. Anybody who watched - got any match-up ideas, thoughts on our strengths / weaknesses versus State's strengths / weaknesses, etc.

Replay showed ball bouncing straight out beside the rim, no chance of going in, but still should have been called.
Not as bad as our no call on the backcourt ball last night.

Seabron is incredibly athletic and gets to the rim any time he wants. He can't and doesn't shoot outside of 4 feet, but yet he always gets there. He's going to be a nightmare for us, because he's way bigger than our best lateral defender (Zay), and way faster than the taller guys that could match up with his height (Tyler, Cayo). I really have no idea how we can or will guard him.

Hellems is a really good shooter, but he's basically the only one on the team. So naturally we'll stupidly help off of Hellems and leave him open. I'd take my chances with literally any other player on that team shooting jump shots, so hopefully that's our approach. We just have to have 5 guys guarding Seabron from driving to the rim.

They can be turned over with pressure, because they aren't that careful with the ball. And they don't really run sets, they just let Seabron drive and create.

Crabtree or the Goose should guard Seabron. Thank you for the analysis.

Um no. Goose has played a total of 2 minutes this year. Crabtree, I love, I want him to start, but lateral quickness is not his strength.

I don't know the status of Dji and his injury but he seems like a potential option. He can match Seabron's length and unlike Crabtree has some better footspeed to keep up with him. Maybe Wilson can harass him enough up top before he gets to the lane. But he is going to be a match-up nightmare for us.

I agree 97. I don't know who is going to be able to check Seabron. Making it worse, we also don't have a rim protector on the roster to help when he gets in the paint.

Burton should be on Seabron. I know it's not ideal and it's a challenge but he's got to be up for it.

Hayes 6'3" - Gilyard
Smith 6'4" - Zay
Seabron 6'7" - Burton
Hellems 6'7" - Cayo
Dowuono 6'11" - Golden

Worry about foul trouble if Burton guards him.

Agree, Goose's man blew by him twice and it will take some time to get back to the old Goose. I'm not sure why people think he can just jump in be back to normal. X-rays didn't show anything which I am hoping is good 🙏 MRI sched for Thurs so hopefully we can find out something and Dji will be back(he says it does feel better but not 100.) I think Seabron is a tough matchup for any of our guys. I would like to say force him to shoot & take away the drive but easier said than done. Dji's footspeed WHEN healthy is better than those mentioned, I think too. But like you said...he's a problem. Maybe we can get int Smith's head the Freshman has had a few nice games but isn't strong emotionally and let Gilly or Zay get in there and frustrate him some as well. Cam is certainly going to be an issue too, hes played well but State doesn't take care of the ball as well as they should. Maybe we can focus on that some. I think their frontcourt is a little then too. BUT we CAN'T come out like we did in 1st half vs Toledo...that I am certain of.

Fair, but that's the job I'm giving him. He needs to defend without fouling. Size-wise I can't put Zay on him.
I don't see Burton being a good option. Burton gets beat a lot out on the perimeter by guys blowing by him. This is Seabron's specialty. Seabron has some Ben Simmons in him, you can't let him get downhill on you, otherwise you are toast. I fear Burton would get in foul trouble really easily if he were to draw the assignment.

I don't have an answer for him, my answer would be Dji but he is hurt. The only thing I can see is pestering him out on the perimeter with our quick little guards. He isn't a huge threat to shoot over them because that is not his game.

Agreed, unfair to throw Goose into the fire like this and expect much. Not his fault at all.

I haven't seen Seabron play at all, but we are taking about him like he's going to put up 100 points on us while quadruple-teamed. When a team has one great player, seems to me the options are let him get his and shut down everyone else, or double-team him all night and make everyone else beat you.

Just imagine a player that is a cross between AI, LBJ and MJ, and now you are starting to get a strong picture of our challenge.

He does remind me a lot of Purdue's Jaden Ivey who is projected 4th overall in 2022 draft.

State loves to apply half court pressure at a very high level. We need to find Crabtree, Burton and Sherod out of the traps and shoot 3's like 2nd half of Toledo game.

Amazing that if you simply use NET and Location
Neutral NC ST(32 spots from Quad 2) is about equal to at Fordham (34 spots from Quad 2)...
I'm not sure that will be true by March.

5-1 so far when attending … my friend from Chicago is 0-2 after Bahamas so needs to redeem himself.
I think I met your friend from Chicago in the bahamas. Super nice dude, I am in Chicago as well. Said he doesn't get on the message boards, was there with his GF. He's a consultant yea?
