Media Discussion of Spider Hoops

Put the pressure on Bob, not just Andrew. I'm tired of Bob getting the free "you're in a tough spot" pass. He works for UR; Mooney is not his boss. He's also a member of the press and presumably gets a paycheck from WXGI.

Besides, if you worked for Capital One, and the head of another department was failing miserably, you'd be expected to speak candidly about this.

Not in public.

Mooney with Special Guest, Michael Shafer, should make for a heck of a show tomorrow night.

All these years and Mo is still easily fooled. There’s no hard questions or even faint suggestions of trouble. This will all be about how bright the future is.

Unless Hardt really surprises me and this is a “last meal”.

All these years and I guess my dripping sarcasm still doesn't resonate either.

Right back at you...

Sorry - realizing the sarcastic response to the sarcastic comment probably needed some sort of extra emoji that I need a mellenial to help me figure out.

In all seriousness it’s damn depressing that we can’t actually talk basketball

If the Spiders played something that resembled basketball, there would be something to talk about.

Unless Hardt comes busting in during the show with a few cardboard boxes full of stuff from their offices, there's no reason to listen.

It won't. When I pressed him on it, he walked it back. He said the actual take was that if we don't go .800 in OOC play or reach the A10 championship game, he'll call for his job. So he's giving him the whole season. He didn't mention the A10 Championship on the show in question, and couldn't tell me when he said that.
Boo. Lame.

He did seem to indicate on Twitter that is ready for Mooney to be fired. Bob even seemed to agree with Andrew's points today. I feel like he is coming around in an attempt to be on the right side of history here.

These coaches talk about Final Exams as if we are the only university with basketball players encumbered by Final Exams.

I wish I could be as incompetent at my job as these two guys are at theirs and make even 10% of what they make. It's staggering to think about.

Did you listen this morning? He's giving him the season though he couldn't come up with a reason why.

He doesn't have the energy to rip Richmond basketball any more.
Was out of town so couldn’t listen. Not surprised, I doubt anyone is going to take a hard take on this in town. Not sure why, seems like it’s an easy take to have.

So Wake easily handles Davidson (a top A10 team), leads the whole game, and the Spiders handle Wake, no problem. We may be ok.

So Missouri State, TCU, Cal Baptist, BYU, N Illinois, Oakland, SMU, FL Gulf Coast, and Missouri handle Oral Roberts (a bottom feeder Summit League team), and the Spiders can't handle them at home. We may have a problem.

What about a Hampton team that lost to Bowling Green, Loyola (MD, not Chicago), W&M, Norfolk State and Coastal Carolina, and barely beat a D2 St. Leo, but crushed us by 20? Think we'll be ok?

What about Longwood who has only 4 wins against D1 competition (including us and a few MEAC schools) and needed OT to beat D3 Frostburg? You think we'll be OK?

What about a Wyoming team who had only beaten Grambling before facing us, and we couldn't get it done? They've since lost to Northern Colorado and Denver (who I didn't know were a D1 school).

We're not OK, and we won't be ok until Mooney is gone.

Davidson plays without Kellen Grady, maybe the best shooting guard in the A10.

Still no excuse, that's a sorry Wake team that we beat with no Nick. Point is even the A10 teams with a slim chance of an at large this year are struggling.

Agree. So, let me get this straight: If you bring up the injuries of Nick or Jacob, get ready to get attacked on here for using silly excuses, but when it is mentioned that Wake beating Davidson might make us be okay in the A-10, it is now perfectly fine to use the injury excuse for Davidson. So predictable.

Come on bro, you can’t seriously be defending this train wreck still. You don’t have to go darkside but it’s just indefensible.

Not sure if you heard JOC this morning on 950, but he said he doesn't expect Gilly to be 100% all year. Mooney's decision to play Gilly the 2nd half of the Wyoming game on a freshly injured groin may end up haunting him, us, and Gilly all year.
Bump.

When asked in the postgame presser, which was recently uploaded by Jason Vida, Mooney said Gilyard is healthy, without hesitating. Cased closed. Gilly is healed.

I would just like to ask: why will the sixth page of this thread seemingly never turn into the seventh page? It's an incredibly long page so far. Other threads turn over a lot quicker.
