Figured we should have a thread to highlight the success of our tennis programs this year...both ended up as #3 seeds in the A-10 tourneys, and both will be facing VCU for the championships.

Women rolled through Davidson and Rhode Island to reach the final, which starts a half-hour from now. As always, VCU will be a tough matchup. VCU took the regular-season matchup 5-2.

Men survived a squeaker against #6 Fordham yesterday before taking care of #2 Dayton this morning to earn another shot at VCU tomorrow morning at 10. VCU swept the regular-season matchup 7-0 and the Spiders weren't even able to win a set, so they'll have a tall task ahead of them tomorrow.

Unfortunately fell as expected to VDU today. Team upsets rarely happen in tennis.

Tennis program continues to overachieve despite having just 1 scholarship to everyone else in the A10 having 4.5. Imaging what we could do with a fully funded program (indoor facility wouldn’t hurt either).

#1 Matt Fernandez has been a mainstay on the area tennis circuit for what seems like forever. Remember when he was just a middle schooler torching upperclassmen in the prep league when I was coaching in it.

No excuses for our programs to be so underfunded in comparison to the conference rivals we are supposed to compete for championships against. Fully scholarship everything, even if it means adding a women's sport (Hello? Volleyball?) to maintain Title IX compliance.

(And yes, I'll have lunch with that administrator in the chinos, bow tie and weejums again.)

Women’s tennis only has 6 players on the roster this year for some reason. No freshmen, and several international freshmen from last year didn’t return. Good thing Dunbar came back for a 5th year.

If somebody can’t play due to injury or whatever, we have to forfeit that point. Not a good situation.
