Lauletta to the Giants

I am not sure how much more mobile Lauletta is than Manning. Lauletta blew out his knee in the W&M game in 2016. I am concerned about Lauletta's health.

Yep Manning is probably least mobile starting QB. A lot of the time in NFL if a young Qb is playing it won't be an ideal situation. The line is bad but I'd love to see what Lauletta can do. The alternative of not playing at all and what that says from the Giants is worse. Unlike last year there is better chance the team and fanbase rallies around replacing Eli.

The silver lining for KL is that it can’t get worse. Hope he gets the chance and plays loose.

Looks like Kyle's little fiasco has inspired Manning, who had a great game last Monday night and today the Giants are winning going away; last time I checked, Manning is 15-16 for today's game.

Update: Giants win 38-35
Eli 17-18 232 yards 2tds no ints.

Lauletta's ship may have sailed. It's very sad that a stupid traffic infraction may have ruined a wonderful opportunity. Hopefully the Giants will at least look at him when the Giants are mathematically eliminated.

Per ESPN staff writer Jordan Raanan
The decision to make Kyle Lauletta the backup QB was because behind the scenes he's done a good job. He's "made progress."

The potential for KL to get a lot of meaningful time is dependent upon Mark Sanchez...gulp

KL is active today. We should see him in the second half with Giants up 31-0.

Well, if that happens (and there already is a ton of pressure on NYG to draft a QB next year) the Redskins should give him a look. They won't have a viable QB going into OTAs.

The Giants have been playing themselves right out of a good draft pick, though.

I would just like to point out that HOF QB Brett Farve saw his first nfl action against the Redskins. Went 0-5 and a pick in relief duty. Hoping for a similar career trajectory.

Shurmur on Kyle Lauletta.
https://247sports.com/nfl/new-york-...Giants-Eli-Manning-future-2019-126351446/Amp/

It was a great opportunity for him to play an extended period of time -- he had a full quarter," Shurmur said to Francesa. "We were in that mode where we were at run-run-throw on third down so it's not totally fair to him. There are things he will learn from for the next time. We believe in Kyle and that the next time he goes in there he's going to have better success. It's just like anybody, the first time you do it there's a lot to learn between the first and second time, and he'll do it."

Earlier this week, Shurmur refused to commit to Lauletta remaining as the team's No. 2 quarterback for the Giants' Week 15 games against the Titans. We will find out when the Giants announced their inactive players at 11:35 a.m. ET on Sunday.

Eli did not look good at all today. Assuming the Giants lose to the Titans and the Vikings hold on to beat the Dolphins, the Giants will be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

If Lauletta doesn't play the last 2 weeks or if does and plays poorly, this could be a big door closing. His opportunities are very limited given the Giants likely drafting or trading for a QB this off season.

Best case scenario is Shurmur plays Lauletta 1 or both of these last 2 weeks and Lauletta plays well. It's an uphill battle for Lauletta as a 4th rounder, but I'm sure he's up for the challenge

Lauletta inactive in today’s game against the Colts when the Giants have been eliminated from the playoffs. Not a good sign for Lauletta. It’s starting to look like he’s going to be competing just to stay on the roster next year.

it is very difficult, extremely difficult, to just make a roster much less hang on. many great qbs, sat, did not play or were traded, before emerging into starters and stars (unitas, farve, moon, theismann etc.). some need to have some patience and let the system work itself out. a 4th rounder is not going to come in and replace a hall guy right away and a team is not going to ditch a hall guy until they just have to. he is in the mix, learning and if the gents give up on him, he might catch on other places.

Rick, did not know you had a vote, congrats buddy. the local nfl guru around houston who does have a vote, says probably, two super bowls plus his name and where he played.
