Khwan Fore

The opportunity to play college basketball seems to be slipping away from Kwhan Fore. IMHO, he made a hasty decision to leave UR basketball.

Did Louisville get extra sanctions after their self imposed post season ban and firing pitino, or are they able to play in the post season this year?

Louisville is an interesting choice. I love Kwan's athleticism and his ability to drive to the hole, but it will be interesting to see how much court time he sees. I hope it is a lot, but it is Louisville, home of the "one and dones."

Good for Kwan. And hopefully this slows the roll on how we will be a better team next year without Kwan and Buck. We lost two of our better players from an already thin and challenged roster. The fact both had with eligibility left speaks volumes as well.

No, they actually played in the NIT at the end of this season and are eligible to play in the NCAA tournament next year if they are any good. Lot of turnover from pitino days I believe.

Kwans decision really makes me wonder what Mooney would do in a similar situation if a talented freshman gets hurt early in the season and we opt to medically redshirt. It could be a moot point because I can’t remember how serious the foot injury Kwan had was but remember there being debate weather to play him or not at the end of the season.

Always thought Kendall’s SR year having Kwan back him up at the season’s end would of probably been enough to put us over the hump. Instead he redshirted with the expectation he’d have a more productive SR year. He will, it’s just unfortunate it’s for another school. In hindsight, really wish he never hurt that foot. We don’t have this empty feeling of him leaving and we could have had that elusive tournament appearance.

On a side note Chris Mack owes this program a player or two in return.

Hmm, guess he is an ok player and possibly will be a loss for the program

Well, thank god, he found a place to play close to home. Hmmm, who would your rather coach you up Chris Mooney or Chris Mack? Well done, Khwan.

To be fair, he did cut the distance down by more than 50%. I wish Khwan the best, and hope he does well at Louisville.

good for Khwan. UL is a good fit athletically and he can play some point ... which is important.
and they still have openings for playing time.
pretty perfect landing spot.

Why would this slow down any talk of us being a better team next year? Last time I checked, Buck was nearly 3,000 miles away at a non major coming off a 12-18 season, and if Louisville wanted Khwan real bad, they would not have waited till June to bring him there. At least wait and see how much he plays before assuming things. Remember Nelson-Ododa with Pitt?

I don't think this news changes anything. If I felt this way after he signed with Tennessee, why should I feel differently if he signs with Louisville? We will be better next year without Buck and Khwan.

If you have been wondering why many on the board claim you are a propaganda artist this is a perfect example of the reason. Smearing our former players, who are very talented, in an attempt to rationalize the current state of our program is horrible.

I am not smearing anyone. I was simply responding to a post that said Khwan going to Louisville should somehow change how those of us feel about us doing well next season. Tennessee was a high seed in the tourney last year. Louisville did not even make the tourney and has some major issues lurking over them. So, you tell me why Khwan going to Louisville instead of Tennessee should now change my opinion. Does every team that loses one of the 700+ transfers, even to P5 schools, out there always do worse the following year? No. So, Khwan going to Louisville means nothing. Absolutely nothing, and it is ridiculous for anyone to think that should slow down any talk about how we will do next year.

I will say it again. I am not smearing anyone. I have praised both players numerous times on here. But, they are not here anymore. One chose to leave and the other broke rules and is gone. At the time, they both let their teammates and coaches down, but after the dust settles we will be better without them. They are not Spiders anymore. Choose to keep backing them and cheering for them if you want. I won't cheer against them, but I certainly won't be worried about how they do. They are gone. Who cares?

And, I have definitely not been wondering what anyone on here thinks about me. Why would anyone care what people think about them on a sports message board?

Chris Mack is a bit of a slime dog.

I would say that Mack is a well-respected coach who took Xavier to the next level. They were a top-10 rated team at times last season. Plus, I was impressed how Mack handled his team during the big brawl with Cincinnati a few years ago. He and Tony Bennett are probably the two highest profile "pack line" defense advocates in college hoops.

I don't consider Mack to be the least bit slimy. I'd take him as our coach in a skinny minute.

Huge difference between the way Fore left the program and the way Buck left the program. Fore could have stayed if he choose to do so, Buck was dismissed from the team for reasons that have not been made public.

You’re entitled to your opinion, though I think your stance comes off as a little callous.

However, where I disagree with you is that they are forever Spiders to me. And especially my fellow alumn Fore.

The article basically clears Mack of any wrongdoing, the alleged violations took place under Miller before Mack took over:

"Former Xavier assistant coach Emanuel "Book" Richardson is one of four college basketball coaches implicated in the FBI case. He pleaded not guilty in November to charges of bribery, soliciting bribes and various acts of fraud. The charges stem from actions he took recruiting players while the assistant coach at the University of Arizona. Richardson was an assistant coach at Xavier under Sean Miller from 2007 to 2009."

Move along, nothing to see here...

Some outside perspective, so again, not just a few crazies on our message board noticing our program isn’t in a great place.

It should not go unnoticed that Fore played for some pretty bad teams for Richmond. At his time there, Richmond made the NIT in 2017, but that was their only wining season. It is a positive because Fore has a lot of starting experience, and playing experience, but it is negative due to his lack of playing time on any kind of big stage.

Fore will be used at UL exactly as I said he should have been used here. A spot player who is on the floor situationally, only when his athleticism could allow him to take advantage of a mismatch. On those occasions he can find some success. The rest of time he will be pulling splinters from his rear end.

On the flip side, he will be on a team with a terrific coach - a team with a CHANCE to make the NCAA tournament (even though I doubt that they will in Mack's first year). And, he won't be anywhere near as homesick :D playing for a better team.
