I would rather see VMI added to the CAA, especially for football.
Bring back A10 football!Davidson and Duquesne... Both seem to be a little more interested in football lately, though I know that's all relative to their situations. But the Dukes actually showed nicely a few years ago in the playoffs and have been there more often than us since 2015.
At the rate tech is going right now they may not win the CAA. I was talking with some of my friends this past week and said to ask themselves this question; if tech was in the FCS would they win a national title? My vote is I have no idea, I wouldn’t trust them to beat NDSU or jmu right now. The fact that that’s an answer is a fireable offense for Justin Fuente. In all seriousness this Richmond needs to rise up in the league, no excuses.Tech to the CAA?????
I had to look. He said the following:Mickey with no filter is always interesting
Matthews Sees Manageable Transition For Dukes
He knows all about the overnight credibility a program gains with recruits when it elevates to the highest level of college football, and Mickey Matthews was reminded of that lastwww.dnronline.com
I mean I hate to say it but he ain't wrong. Maybe 6 years ago that would be an insult but certainly nothing false about that statement unfortunately. He also was spot on calling out the NCAA not making FCS more attractive and causing teams to jump to FBS.I had to look. He said the following:
“So, there’s going to be some transition, there’s no doubt, because believe me, you’re not going to be playing Richmond anymore. You’re going to be playing some good teams."
It came across as "the schools that will be in the sunbelt had so much better teams during my time at JMU than Richmond during my time at JMU" to me...I mean I hate to say it but he ain't wrong. Never seen that happen to any other school in a different sport...As soon as JMU announces it's leaving, it becomes ineligible for CAA championships. Not sure how this would impact football, or whether they are going to be able to negotiate a soft landing that will allow them maintain their eligibility for the entire school year, but that will be fun to watch...
Felt that was an obvious perk but yea Robins stadium games would be festive with the bands there. Just think if they were in the CAA there would be a chance for them to become solid programs being able to recruit in a stronger conference and help contribute. Personally I think what makes college football great are regional games that allow fans to travel and allow for festive atmospheres. Loved going to the 05 playoff game and winning @#2 ranked Hampton in the playoffs. I knew then Clawson was something special.Bring them in for the bands. No other reason necessary.
We may never recover from his tenure. He made working from home into an art form.Don't care if he's laughing, just glad he's no longer our AD
Tech to hire Huesman and go D3Tech to the CAA?????
I loved the guy. I always thought we had a chance to win as long as he was on the other sideline.I never liked Mathews, but what he says makes a lot of sense.
So, where do we go from here? Besides a new coach.
