As the evolution of sports is always changing this era of College Basketball is geared more towards young guys coming in ready to play and show case their individual talent. UR is a system school using old strategies and a development structure were falling behind the times. Just like football west coast or run n shoot new wave took over from the old traditional offense. IMO we have a talented team comprising of special individual talents that under any other system or coach would be thriving. We have recruited talented players, face it with academic standards and a one dimensional coaching our players have become robotic. As we have seen this season and yesterday from a new era coaching philosophy and young gunners we just get handled from the aggression of the coach which the team follows. These coaches form strategy according to each specific game while in the game and to their own players strengths. Yesterday Hurley as someone else said is the Calipari of the A10 that may be true because of using the philosophy of drive hard with guards or shot and other players crash boards hard. IMO we should use same strategy K0 already is determined to drive only other person that can drive from perimeter is SDJ maybe TA from mid range let those three handle the ball from the dribble tell the others to crash boards. Then use TJ as a pick n roll or pop. Every team we have played this year their best players end having great games due to their coaching just letting them play do what they do best ..score be aggressive. So IMO it's not that we have recruited so badly it's were not actually coaching the talent of each individual kid but coaching the talent of coach into the kids..and it's not getting absorbed and not working.. For all the stat posters the PO has never won a ncaa title only a NIT in 1975. Why is that our only offense in 2015?
Best five should play most game use roll players to spell for fatigue or foul trouble. Here is how IMO the team should perform.
Starting 5: sdj k0 ta tj ano
SDJ strengths is being a pg let him be primary ball handler calling and running plays. Very good at pick n roll penetration and dish.
K0 off ball...scorer driving when he's hot continuous scorer putting pressure on defense only when hot.
TA mid range scorer clear out let him work
TJ pick n roll pop out for three dump down scorer
ANO roam crash boards when mismatch dump down
DT TD slashers rebounded hustle guys their your energy blue collar players they can't create own shots but hustle at times making good plays..let them settle into their talent taking pressure off shooting. With them focus on crashing steals and defense the will excel.
JJ has not shown me he can consistently shoot or score maybe because CM likes non scorers in front of him. JJ needs to be more aggressive when on the floor. Make most of minutes played.
