Getting Ready for Whatever

Why can't we get a pod going here with local teams to cut down on travel. UVA, MD, Tech, GW, UR, VCU, ODU, Georgetown would make a sweet little 8 team pod?

Sorry, athletic departments are only interested in cutting expenses if it involves cutting a non revenue sport.

Colorado State game is off the table for this season...the A-10/MWC challenge is being pushed back a year. Not sure if pairings will remain the same for 2021-22.

This doesn't bother me at all, because I've been getting ready for whatever.

We have a once in a decade team this year, hopefully our staff is working overtime to put the best OOC schedule together. Fantastic that we were able to preserve the Kentucky game and understand that was our top priority, but still lots of work to do. Need to protect that Cincinatti game as well.

Nothing we could do about the Mountain West series. Flying cross country for one game in the current status was never gonna happen anyway.

Mooney was on 950 this morning and said they are in contact with Cincy, UNI and the other key OOC teams daily and hope to keep most or all of the big games.

Good report. I realize it is a very difficult environment to try to keep these scheduled, and the situation is so fluid and could go downhill fast in the fall I fear. Hopefully our staff's efforts will be rewarded.

And we can win some of these, that would be nice too :). I like what I read in the Athletic article too - our players are very smart and motivated and ready to cease this opportunity. Just hope they have the chance, and hope they do not feel too much pressure early. I think these guys are "ready for whatever"!!

Interesting that Mooney says some of the teams in the Kentucky MTE may change. Mike Davis seemed to indicate yesterday that the group was intact.

I hope they Seize it instead of Cease it...;)

I do too haha. I actually won a spelling bee, but that was about 37 years ago.

LInk to the interview with Mooney that EL referenced:

For you Philly guys, even got some Philly football talk in there, I'm sure GiantKiller will love that!

Philly Bob for ya. & the Moon man awfully quick to jump on the Eagles D for not meeting expectations...wonder what he’d say about not going to NCAA for 9 straight.

LOL....how many times have the Eagles made the playoffs in the last 10 years?

With a lot of the exempt events falling apart and some teams deciding to just play 25 games rather than figure out how to get into new events at this point, looks like NCAA is considering just allowing a flat 27 games max.

UVA now needs to fill a few more ooc games. Hope Mooney is reaching out to his great friend trying hard to schedule this game.
Of the teams, that I think we match up terribly against, UVA would be number 1 on my list. Bennett is just too good with his defensive schemes. But hey, if there was a year to try, I guess it would be this year.

If we are ranked 15th pre season, there is no reason not to schedule UVA at their place!

Prepare yourself for games being postponed or cancelled everywhere. Seems like a endless process of moving the schedule. Nothing is guaranteed this year.

They should consider themselves lucky. They “lose” 3 games but if they had played them they really would have lost 3 games...

unfortunately I think we’ll see more of that during the year. I’d rather they play & lose but at minimum play. We want as close to a full season as possible it bodes well for us the more is played. If they’re lucky here it just means we’re unlucky. Two of the best UR teams last season & this one and we might get zero NCAAs out of it when we’ve been waiting 10 years. Mooney might be the most jinxed unlucky guy there is and we r throwing more million dollar extensions his way.
