"Running Like Never Before" was his coaching philosophy. His best contribution to our program was the promotion of his assistant Dick Tarrant to head coach after Goetz resigned.

In my opinion Lou Goetz made the most important contribution to Spider basketball of anyone in its history. The Robins and Queally families are to be valued and appreciated but without Coach Goetz, Dick Tarrant never would have been at Richmond. Both are the Spider's George Bailey (It is a Wonderful Life Xmas story). In 12 years Coach T put Spider basketball on the map ( 9 post season appearances in 12 years).
