Forecast for Duquesne

Another picture perfect Mooney loss. Hardt needs to adjust HIS glasses if he can't see that Mooney stinks.

What will Mooney's excuse be tonight? They were too big??? They had too many transfers??? He should just be accountable and say "we're not a very good team right now and that's on me" or "here's what I'm doing to fix it". However we all know that won't happen. What I do know is that maaaaaaannnnnn we suck.

Enjoyed the Louisville game but kept eye on in game stats. Maybe Spider D or bad Dukes outside shooting but were only 3-18 3PTA at one time in game. Made 7 of 11 after that including 3 in a row at end that doomed Mooney's team. Tough loss, please someone post video of Mooney's post game response.

This is why we need to make the move. Another game we have no business losing. And I know the Mooney fans are going to say the banks shots and Jake misssed FT and that’s not Mooney’s fault etc. but it’s Mooney’s fault that a bad team like DUq is even in the game. We keep finding ways to,lose to bad teams even at home. I am pretty much done because it’s just too frustrating.

Great effort from our guys tonight and a coming out for Cayo. Get Sherrod back, add Francis and get a coach and we might see a quick rebound next year.

In good years and bad, one thing is always consistent: we beat Duquesne. (I almost posted something like this before the game)

We definitely won’t rebound as long as Mooney is here.

I'm sure you would agree that it didn't help that, with a one point lead and 2:45 to go, Golden decided to shoot his first three pointer in conference play with Gilyard wide open in the corner, and then Gilyard missed critical free throws, and then they hit a fadeaway bank shot, and then another bank shot. That doesn't stick on Mooney, as much as folks would like it to.

Losing sucks.

If I had to pick out positives, I liked the game plan of attacking the rim, and thought we did a better job of staying in front of our guy defensively today. Plus Cayo was great for the second game in a row.

Gilly with another 38 minutes tonight. Has anyone ever considered that he does not hit FT at the end of the game because his legs are shot?
Anyone want to mention that three guys scored about 80% of our points and all other guards besides Jake did pretty much nothing.
This offense doesn't generate shots at all. Almost all of the big three's points were scored on one on one (or two or three) dribble penetration moves. We score points despite or offense not because of it.
Duquesne did not look like a good team at all but they made some threes and two impossible bank shots back to back. Poor foul shooting and Grant' technical didn't help. Despite all that, this is a game we really had no business losing.

Wow. WOW. WOW. You are all in on excuse city. You are challenging for Truther number 1. We are attacking the players, until we lose and the truthers attack them to excuse Mooney. I have seen it all now. Carry on boys, carry on. Good effing amusement on this here lil message board. Love it.

I would rest him and anyone at least 2 minutes each half, and try to have the rest around a media timeout, so it would be about a 4-5 minute total rest each half.

How would you like a pay raise and a D1 college basketball program to run for 60 days? I'm not a huge fan of yours but I'm open to giving you the keys.

Duquesne hasn't won since the early 90's. #NoMoreMooneyTruthing
I believe '93 was the last time they beat us st home...i seem to remember losing to them at their place in the last 10 yrs or so...terrible either way

I would say no 3s, grant!!!!

55% from the FT line. Loss

Maybe, maybe not. Would we have definitely won if we made 3 more FTs and been at 72%? Don't get me wrong. 55% is terrible, but I think it was10 3s for them and only 2 for us = loss. It does not matter how successful you are from 2. You have to shoot more than 11 3s a game and you definitely have to make more than 2 of them.

It tends to be the same recipe, shoot poorly from 3/FT and we often end up short. Not too different from most other teams but our 2pt offense was pretty decent.

The problem continues to be that we just do not defend that well. The D looked better tonight but that’s a little like saying John Belushi was slimmer than Chris Farley.

We passed up too many open shots. No one wanted to shoot the three. Was especially frustrating at the end when we needed to score quickly. Ugh.

Agree. Until we fix the defense, we won’t win consistently. We give up way to many layups every game. The problem is that CM won’t try another defense for any length of time. We keep doing the same thing over and over and getting the same results. This has been an issue for multiple seasons now.
