Dji entering the portal

granted LSU is struggling, but in a strong SEC, & Dji has a big role and basically putting up same stats as last season in A10.

this is another reason VT4700 went to his bunker.
Who knows. He could be UR2400 over on the LSU basketball board. Must have picked a new favorite team this year.

it's the SEC. as a player, that's got to be a huge draw. you play in some really big games.
it's probably 2-4 times the NIL. it's hearing a different coach's voice after 4 years. it's a different level of a rah-rah school ... even if the rah-rah is mostly aimed at football.
I think Burton and Dji were gone even if we could match the NIL ... which I don't think we can do. we're competitive with NIL in the A10, but probably no where near the P5 NIL level.
I wonder how competitive we are in the NIL space in the A10. Again - with it being so secret and not disclosed - its anyone's guess, but I wish teams had to disclose total amount - maybe not amount per player (that could be too personal).

UR will never disclose this. They don't even disclose Mooney contract.

I haven't read up on it, but sounds like student athletes could see a substantial increase if the revenue sharing thing is approved.

I like Dji as much as the next guy, but there's no way he makes us a .500 team this year.
we're 325th in the country in 3 point shooting.
Agree. I said no better than .500 club. Of course, Dji helps us be better but, it's not like losing him was the difference between us being a Top A-10 competing for an NCAA bid. We would though be slightly less lousy than we are now. Dji is a terrific defender, did a lot of little things to make the team better. 10 times better than running Roche, AP, Tanner out there which is our current wing rotation.

Dji made the right choice. Happy for him. Shows that as a starter in SEC that he’s better player than some gave him credit for. I do believe if he would have stayed we probably win a few of the games we lost.

I did not say Dji would have made us a contender. But damnit mooney, you have to start somewhere. So he loses Dji and Bigs, and replaces them with a bunch of one dimensional guys that aren't that great at the one dimension they are supposed to be. Should have saw how freaking awesome it is to have two lengthy forwards that can play all facets of the game and said A) we need to do everything to keep Dji and B) we need to find a Bigs clone. But instead, he is going to show all of us. He is going to bring in a bunch of one dimensional shooters, and show how we can just out shoot our way to wins. HA. And based on all his BS commentary in the preseason and early season, this is exactly what he thought he was doing.

Dji and Bigs were good, but the drop off at forward is not nearly as big a problem as the drop off from Jordan King in my opinion.
and Hunt getting hurt exacerbated it.

Hey 23 - my comments weren’t aimed at you. I have a tendency to agree with pretty much what you post. Just clarifying.

Well, which area is worse is not a question you want to ask? I would probably give the nod to the guard position because of Jordan King and as you noted the drop off was made worse by Hunt getting worse, but at least Mooney had an A-10 caliber guard on the roster.

As 23 noted, Dji and Bigelow were multi-dimensional players (great defenders, rebounders), Bigs could score and Dji was a great facilitator in our offense. We replaced them with Dusan (good scorer, but Mooney hates him on defense, doesn't really rebound) and AP, who we were all sold on being a good shooter, but that has not been the case and frankly he doesn't excel at much of anything out there, I suppose he is a decent rebounder. And then add Tanner into the mix, who also doesn't excel at any facet of the game. That is our forward room, pretty bleak.

Yes, the revolution didn’t go as well this year…
Switching from King to Prez…

we haven't seen the best of AP yet, but I still think he's a solid addition. he could put up Bigelow numbers as a senior.
Dusan's our best player with Delonnie out. agreed he's not Dji defensively. but he's a good player.

it's a team game. any good play impacts winning. but you have to have good guard play in college basketball.
