Chase Johnson left the team.....again.Dayton loses at homes to LaSalle...
Sounds like Lee in Petersburg during the winter of 1864-65.We should have had a awesome bench for once this year and are now left with almost nothing. The boys shot well, made their free throws, didn’t turn the ball over and rebounded barely enough. That’s about the best we can do with what we have left.
Hey, the 3 Stooges were a hell of a backcourt. From the Three Stooges?😂
Mooney commented on Burton's play in the TV interview.Grant had a real nice game but Burton was obviously the player of the game. 18 points, 11 rebounds. His steal and deflection in back to back Davidson inbounds turned the tide. Can't believe Mooney cited Grant's play and not Burton. Likewise that Grant was interviewed after the game and not Tyler.
Just got home from traveling and looked at the box score. No Gus?
Connor broke his foot. Gus pulled groin.I had no idea before game him or Connor were not available. Anyone have updates on why both were out?
The stars will shine. They will step up.If we lose this one, cue up the excuses and the future is bright BS. Who else is going to step up?
Didn’t know he had been sick, but could tell he didn’t seem to be his usual self out there. Hope he feels better soon. Might’ve been a good idea to give Wilson a few more of his minutes tonight if Gilyard is under the weatheranybody know the extent of Gilly's illness this week? I will give him credit for gutting it out, but not his best game.
Happens all the time. Some are more severe than others. Foot problems are no joke. Have had sesamoiditis, plantar faciitis, and broken bones at different times, didn't really know other than it being a gradually nagging injury before it kept getting worse was properly diagnosed, then shutdown for some time. Basketball and Tennis are brutal on the feet. The deal with Crabtree's injury is weird, reading JOC's account of it. It didn't happen in a practice or a game but just "gradually" occurred. What is that?
just don’t think you can say that about Grant. Burton was great all the way around. GG was great on offense. He was not at all great on defense or rebounding. He has 5 rebounds total I believe in the last two (close) gAmes. He needs to be better at those aspects of the game. He has reverted defensively to focusing mostly on stying out of foul trouble - which is easier when you don’t ply much defense or bang round too hard inside. He is gifted offensively, but for us to be great he needs to bring his game up in the other two aspects.Great job down the stretch. Golden was great tonight. Burton did everything.
Rebounding is an instinctive thing and a quickness thing. Only a few have the two skills.Goldens rebounding the last few games is really lacking. No position and he rarely goes and gets the ball
Neither team in the bonus. Crazy how rare that is. Great refereeing tonight. The refs have let em play. Neither team in the penalty with a min to go
They didn't play 40 minutes. They played 38 and 37, and maybe you wanted them to rest some more, but I know I wanted them on the floor. Whenever one was out, I was saying get him back in there.Great effort by the team, but same old coaching issues. Hey Mooney, if you're going to make our guards play 40 minutes, can't you at least use some timeouts once in a while so they can catch their breath? No wonder they run out of gas at the end of the season.
Goldens best game this year, way to go Grant!
Our best player is NOT a senior...

It’s a lot effort, focus and anticipationRebounding is an instinctive thing and a quickness thing. Only a few have the two skills.
This has to be coaching to some degree, GG plays like he has 3 fouls from the tip. If he is this tentative vs Davidson, which he has basically owned recently, then it doesn’t bode well for future games with teams with an inside game. Grace needs to be able to contribute something, but has really gone backwards last 2 games. He used to be able to at least body up on D.GG was great on offense. He was not at all great on defense or rebounding. He has 5 rebounds total I believe in the last two (close) games......He has reverted defensively to focusing mostly on stying out of foul trouble - which is easier when you don’t play much defense or bang round too hard inside.
Other than Burton the team was pretty dead. Not only on the court, but off too. The Davidson bench was going crazy and it seemed like there wasn’t a peep from the Spider bench. Going to have to bring your own juice this year and the Spiders don’t seem to have it.Wish we’d show a little emotion. The press has given us some new life but we have to go hard to the basket. Give some fresh legs a chance if needed.
Going to go as far as the 5 starters can take us. Had hoped that this year would be different and would be able to build some bench strength, but isn’t going to happen. Moondog playing his cards on a shortened season. Hope Gilly is truly on the mend from the unknown ailment. Hard to recover from anything if you are worn out physically.if you're going to make our guards play 40 minutes, can't you at least use some timeouts once in a while so they can catch their breath? No wonder they run out of gas at the end of the season.
Ahhh, the stress of a fracture. What happens when the bench has a fracture? How does one outcoach a stress fracture?Sure injuries happen but year after year? Lack of depth is on CM.....he doesn’t develop bench players
Agreed. It’s a lot effort, focus and anticipation
It was a good win. Let's not go too crazy.Mooney > McKillop.
I'll go crazy. Mooney owns McKillop! who else in our conference wins at Belk as much as we do? I was wondering where the great McKillop was with a momentum changing time out when we pressed. It was a good win. Let's not go too crazy.
He is taller.
Agree with this post, particularly about Grant. One of the commentators mentioned that "Golden couldn't jump over a telephone book." He's often out of rebounding position so he won't put up the numbers that Burton does.I'll go crazy. Mooney owns McKillop! who else in our conference wins at Belk as much as we do? I was wondering where the great McKillop was with a momentum changing time out when we pressed.
Burton is becoming an absolute stud, but I can't believe there isn't more praise for Grant. he was flat our terrific shooting and passing. his defense was fine too. their big guy is a load and yes he dominated Grace. Grant held his own there. you Grant complainers won't know what you had until he's gone. he's the best 5 we've ever had. he's not going to put up big rebound numbers. doesn't have the feet for it. Burton is so quick to the ball and long and bouncy he'll lead us in rebounding pretty much every game until he's done. and that's a good thing.
Burton's also reduces Cayo's board, but Cayo was great last night too. so was Francis. love how much Francis was creating like a PG. sometimes he's strictly a scoring guard.
Wilson has talent and will get better but he had a tough run early with 2 quick bad turnovers. I can't let him play through that. he's got to do better or Gilyard and Francis will have to keep playing 38+ until Goose is back.
