Seeking TV/digital partners
There aren't many things more important than exposure for an FCS league. Awareness helps recruiting, and overall support. TV is a key piece, and CAA Football is looking for a partner, or partners, this season and beyond.
The league had a five-year deal with CSN. That expired following last season. The three-year agreement with the American Sports Network also expired. What replaces those two, which together aired about 20 games involving league teams in 2016, could be a TV package, a digital package, or a combination.
"We're working diligently on that right now," CAA Commissioner Joe D'Antonio said Tuesday. "Nothing that I can give you by way of information, but suffice it to say that there will be some things we'll be able to talk about soon."
The CAA Football spring meetings will be held May 30-31 at Kiawah Island, S.C., and the TV topic is high on the agenda. Last season, James Madison, Richmond and William & Mary were on TV about five times each.
