I can't find the link online but interesting insert in a CAA Football article today in the RTD with CAA Football budgets from the 2016-17 year. They are...

JMU $10.11MM
UD: $7.65MM
UR: $6.74MM
VU: $6.65MM
WM: $6.58MM
SBU: $5.64MM
Elon: $5.35MM
UNH: $5.17MM
Albany: $4.79MM
URI: $4.54MM
Towson: $4.54MM
Maine: $4.16MM

Incredible number for JMU. I suspect UD got a bit closer to them in 2017-18 and we may have as well.

UNH continue to generate pretty remarkable ROI.

I've always enjoyed the David v. Goliath aspect of this rivalry...

Go Spiders!

Maybe 73CPA can help with some forensic accounting.

Not sure what the budgets include.

Only expense.Amortized capital.Capital.

I know we have 63 x $65,000 as scholarships plus coaching plus travel, advertising plus support staff. Not sure how we get to $6.74M.

Most of the State schools should be at 63 x $25,000(max).

Nova and UR as private schools should have close comps which they do.

Can’t believe Purple group pays their staffs $3.5 more than ours.

JMU will be paying COA stipends to all athletes starting next fall (2019).

There is a ton of fudge room in all of these numbers. Does the "school" pay for the salaries? Who pays costs of concessions or pays the facility staff OT? Depreciation on dedicated facilities? Is marketing allocated?

Lots of room to play with the numbers and don't think you'll ever get a true line for line comparison, but general trends can certainly be gleaned. Seemingly strong correlation between $ and W.

Stipends will eventually just turn into a bidding war for athletes.
What’s messed up for some kids (and JMU may or may not be one of these schools) is that places put in athletics fees for students that grew out of control. Scholarships don’t cover those fees. So at private schools like UR where it’s all included the kids don’t have our of pockets but at many state schools kids didn’t have everything covered and had to fork out $2k for athletics fees.

To add context to my last post. The regular students also get screwed by the fees.

The NCAA has created a mess. I don’t want to derail the thread but something needs to be fixed. Hopefully they don’t screw up college football. Fix it for the power 5 soon. Otherwise all these small “fixes” will just hurt the small schools while doing nothing to address the major issues out there. We’re not Alabama or USC - that’s ok - but don’t ask us to change for them.

1.James Madison will begin providing cost of attendance for football players and all scholarship athletes starting in the fall of 2019.JMU already was offering cost of attendance in men's and women's basketball, at about $4,000 per player.

2.William & Mary said that the Tribe this school year will start providing cost of attendance to men's and women's basketball scholarship recipients. The COA stipend will range from $2,800 to $3,000, depending on various factors, among them being whether the student does or does not reside in Virginia.

3.Spiders were reviewing their policy, with the possibility of a change that would enhance the package. UR currently offers men's and women's basketball players COA stipends. Coaches in other sports may use parts of their scholarship budgets for COA if that will help in recruiting situations. Richmond's annual cost of attendance figure is $1,300.

4.Delaware does provide COA in football. JMU will. Most CAA football programs do not.

5.VCU announced in 2015 that it would provide cost of attendance stipends for scholarship student-athletes across its sport programs. VCU's cost of attendance averages $4,100. Atlantic 10 Conference schools were required by the league to offer COA in men's and women's basketball.

6.Schools in Power Five leagues immediately implemented cost of attendance to all of their scholarship athletes. Virginia's is $3,180 for full in-state scholarship student-athletes, and Virginia Tech's is $3,280 for full in-state scholarship student-athletes.

I have a hard time believing that as a private school, and being able to work
the books, that we are figuring a full scholarship ride at $65,000.
Even used car dealers offer discounts. Lol

Not sure that you may understand accounting fundamentals. There are many used car dealerships in Annapolis, nevertheless.

Pick me up a 1985 Impala while you’re at it.See about the windshield wipers and tires and CARMAX report.Let me know.

Try this:Read slowly. You’ll understand how UR accounts for things.

32, it's a carFax report. Carmax is the used car company based out of Richmond.

If you're going to be condescending, you better be on point.

Nothing condescending just the effects of a little chemistry after hip replacement surgery last Wednesday.Ligon and Nash have done a great job with CARMAX.Stock has done more than nicely.Hopefully,CARMAX issues carFax reports on the Impala when Annapolis finds one.Turquoise color preferable.Check the powersteering too while you’re at it.
