Bob Foley dies

RIP to our former women's coach and someone who has been very prominent in the youth basketball community here for awhile. Don't know what happened, but he was far too young.

Wow, got to know him quite a bit at some previous stops that I worked at. Always willing to chat and help whenever I saw him. Rest in peace.

I spent some time with Bob and his wife in the last year. A really nice guy. So sorry.

Bob was a great coach. My daughter attended his classes regularly, year round for 4 years. She developed a good jump shot and became a pretty good basketball player. He had some local basketball players help coach. One time my daughter, who was about 4 feet tall, tried to steal the ball from Derick Williams. Another time one of the VCU stars was handing out autographs. Bob Foley was very complimentary of my daughter's work ethic. Richmond Virginia lost a great guy. Bob Foley will be missed.

Apparently he had leukemia and had been fighting it for about a year or so.
