Mooney was asked which player might have the biggest upside surprise this year and his answer was Sal. He had a lot of positive comments on him and I expect him to get a lot more minutes primarily backing up Cayo. That would be exciting if Sal starts showing his potential.

He has a different look this year. Maybe finally getting the strength he needs for his frame! He got pushed around too easily before.

A couple other interesting comments by Mooney included pretty strong praise for Gus. He mentioned that he adds significant value on defense and is terrific off the ball on offense. It almost sounds like he is a Denis Rodman type guy without the rebounds, which is a valuable role when you have 4 other guys that can score.

He also, said Matt was a great back up to Grant. My guess is the Freshman will not get a lot of playing time during close games the 1st half of the season.

With no Nick, but more Tyler and a beefier Sal, we may match up a lot better defensively with the long athletes on power conference teams. We just won't blow out bad teams by as many points.
