Played both in high school, sign me up.Still need WR and LB coach, I believe.

I try to be positive...
Kind of hard to be when we lost the staff that we just lost and they will be on the opposite sideline from us.Try harder.
I say deal with it and move on even though it is really tough. Who knows maybe something good will come out of it.so do we do what you are doing, sitting around crying about it or do we continue our lives?
I agree with you. We have the ability to keep this thing rolling but the next couple months are crucial with recruiting. We need to keep as many committed players as possible and find ways to bring in more signees, whether that be from UTC's signees or new finds by the new staff. We need all the good players we can get. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Stewart and Poling have been here since at least the championship season and losing them will be really tough.VT, we recruited great players long before those guys were here. We will do it again. When you get a bit more "seasoned", as many of us on this board are, you will realize these things are going to happen. It's not worth getting your skivvies in a bunch.
You ever stop to think that when it's all over that they might think they're on the wrong sideline? I'm guessing that most left because there were no guarantees they would be retained here. My guess Rocco looked out for himself first.Kind of hard to be when we lost the staff that we just lost and they will be on the opposite sideline from us.
Huesman is a great hire. Rocco was as well. Regret that Rocco's parting was less than amicable by both parties. Messy. You ever stop to think that when it's all over that they might think they're on the wrong sideline? I'm guessing that most left because there were no guarantees they would be retained here. the only thing that does bother me is that rocco will recruit va very hard from up there, something they have not done. it will get more competitive in va.
A good number of our best players have come out of GA. Tennessee has some great talent as well. Plus if from Va. do you want to play for a winner in Va or ship off to Newark, De.? Personally I think DR will work a lot in Pa. His old stomping grounds and UDs stomping grounds.I agree with this but there are plenty of players to go around. We'll probably be mining TN, GA and other southeastern states more, just because of this staff's experience.
I know stewart left bc gill couldn't promise him the new coach would retain him. I'm sure others were in the same boat. A bird in the hand......You ever stop to think that when it's all over that they might think they're on the wrong sideline? Idk I think Huesman would've kept Stewart because he was here when Huesman was last here, Polin too.I know stewart left bc gill couldn't promise him the new coach would retain him. I'm sure others were in the same boat. A bird in the hand......
I don't disagree. I'm just telling u what stewart told me when I sat in his living room last week. He has two children and a wife to worry about....you can't make decisions based on what ifs when you have responsibilities.Idk I think Huesman would've kept Stewart because he was here when Huesman was last here, Polin too.
I'll take your word for it. Coach Stewart was a great guy and I know the players loved him, really hate to see him go.I don't disagree. He is a friend, I hate to see him go too.I'll take your word for it. Coach Stewart was a great guy and I know the players loved him, really hate to see him go.

I agree with your point...we and i didn't discuss that...I can only surmise that rocco definitely put some pressure on him..I will say that Gill did the right thing. It's up to the coach not the AD to name that position. The only thing that stands out to me is why did coach Stew have to make that decision before Huesman could even offer him? Only scenario I can figure is that Rocco gave him an exploding offer to force his hand. If that's the case, that is a real classless move.
Well the problem is that our athletic department will never give the coach anything and Rocco figured that out. If your AD treats you like a joke than treat him like a joke and that's what Rocco did. We won't be able to compete if we don't give our staff the tools they need to succeed.VT -- only a handful know for sure, but I think you are wrong. I think Rocco wanted out. The only way he would have stayed would be to give him everything he wanted, and give it right then. No school should act that way.
I recall talking to him after the W&M game -- I told a friend he was gone.
Stop calling Rocco classless. We all know why he left and it was because of a real s***head of an AD. He wanted to stay and our AD didn't want to keep him.
Gill is a pushover and just says what he needs to say and tries not to hurt anyone's feelings, of course he wished Rocco well. Rocco said what he believes to be true and is true of the program. He loves those kids and hates to see the administration not care about giving them what they need to succeed. He tried to stand up for what's right and when he realized he wasn't going to win he left and I would've too if I was in his position. I won't even give Gill credit for hiring Huesman and I am yet to be sold on Huesman as a coach.Got any hard evidence to prove it?
Rocco acting insubordinate on the way out I would say classifies as classless. At that point there was no reckoning. Wouldn't of blamed KG if he pulled a Bo Schembechler and canned him after that "vision" press conference. Personally know Rocco and think highly of his coaching abilities but he looks like Benedict Arnold compared to Mike London how he left.
Notice how Gill had the class to wish Rocco well in his press conference? Meanwhile Rocco is throwing our admin under the bus providing only one side of the story on the way out the door all while filming a promo shoot with a blue and gold tie for his next school.
Rocco is gone and not coming back. While Rocco was playing this crap out through the media Gill was doing what he needed to do to secure our next head coach who is one HELL of a coach and was part of a major part of national championship team here. Can't say that about Rocco.
Time to move on....
Tired of reading your same old crap. I'm hitting the ignore button but before I do I'll suggest that you take your Rocco worship to the Chickens board. Rocco is yesterday's news. Can't wait to stick it to him on the football field where it will hurt the most. Go away.Gill is a pushover and just says what he needs to say and tries not to hurt anyone's feelings, of course he wished Rocco well. It hasn't been easy and it won't be easy going forward but maybe we can recover and keep this great program we have rolling. I'll keep a positive attitude and hopefull Huesman changes my mind at about this time next year. We have plenty of talent and hopefully we can keep it all going into next year. I think we can all agree that it is kind of scary that we may have another monster on the rise in UD with the way that jmu is already dominating the league. The only reason I doubt Huesman is because I don't think the SoCon is a very good league and to be honest he didn't do too much in the playoffs once he got there. I really hope he proves me wrong.Cmon VT...I asked for proof and evidence not how you feel. Put up or shutup. Feels does not equal reals. None of us were flies on the wall in those conversations and we only ever heard one side of the story played through the media and of course promptly overreacted before gathering all the facts.
So Rocco gave up on his kids when he didn't get EVERYTHING he wanted?....He must of really loved them if he was willing to go to a conference rival and trash the school on the way out. While you have Kevin Johnson sacrificing a year of his eligibility to keep this team going you have this dude talking to Delaware, a conference rival none the less.
If you need convincing that Huesman is a good coach and will perform well here then you need to reevaluate what you look for in a successful coach. Guess how many playoff appearances Lord Rocco had before he got here with all the resources in the world at Jesus University in a crap conference? 0. I believe Huesman has had what 3-4 and a couple NFL players to boot? He also has some coaching coattails in Will Healy at Austin Peay. Rocco needed Richmond more then we needed him because we were in a relevant conference.
Lets also be real here. We were not reeling when Rocco came here in terms of talent either. We just needed a coach who uses Uber instead of drinks and drives. He deserves credit for rebuilding the program depth especially on the lines but when he came in there were still players left over from our National Title/Semifinal Team, it wasn't a Clawson like rebuild. The cupboard was not bare..
Ill take the coach that wants to be here. We won a NC before Rocco got here and we will win another one too. I will be fond of Rocco because we at least beat UVA in my lifetime, and for that, I am thankful. Wish him well but hes not a Spider anymore, Huesman is and he has all of my support!
