ALMOST NAMED STORM HARVEY

wish i could but have no news on anyone we know at this point. really feel kind of brain dead what with the unknown of your home and possessions and your lives, really roughs you up. saw my grand kids for the first time yesterday after they were stranded and could not get out and it was emotional for me and them especially when you think of the families who have lost loved ones. have to love all these people who drove here from louisiana (the louisiana navy they call themselves) and other parts of texas with their boats so they could go in and bring people to safety. my son and i went into a one of the few open businesses, a subway and while in line was talking with three older guys and could tell they were helpers and they were part of the louisiana navy, taking a food break so i paid for their stuff and told them thanks for coming and sharing what they had. just so many people not caring about themselves but wanting to help anyway they can. they told me that when baton rouge had their huge flood, many texans came over with their boats to help so they were just returning the favor and that felt good. its is during these types of events that you wonder how we ever have wars because people take care of people. it is the leaders of countries who need to be locked in a room to figure things out or fight it out individually but keep their people from having to go to war and fight.

I'm friends w two Richmond football alums from 90s who both live in Houston. One had to evacuate due to being close to levee line & unclear latest. Other was out of home for a few days but now back.

The unselfish acts being done by so many to help others in this fiasco is heartwarming. People helping however they can ...many contributing financially ..Red Cross, Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse.........on the scene to name a few. In a store in Charlottesville this morning and was asked by employee if I wanted to contribute...we talked about it and with some other customers,,many had donated online already.....people care and with God's help hard hit places will get through it. Spinner, the "Cajun" Navy was great - to see all those boats lined up with people wanting to help. Also U.S. Marines in their Amtracks - amazing vehicles that go on land and sea - there to help. Glad you and family remained "dry"
