ALMOST NAMED STORM HARVEY

If we moved the game here in the same time slot, SHSU would still have travel issues, primarily getting back home. Not to mention equipment transport.

glad that got decided, the game is way down the list of priorities, at least here. just hope that some of these computer models are way off, otherwise, might be weeks before we can do anything at all. getting some light rain this morning but tonight and tomorrow will be the pits. if the storm becomes stationary or goes back out into the gulf and then back in, a catastrophe in the making.

Right thing to do. Hopefully, all is well down there and we play next week.

I feel like have a less than 25% chance this game will be played

if this storm is as bad as projected, i agree. It either happens by next Saturday or it won't happen at all.

Keep in mind the number of first responders that will be needed for things other than presiding over a football game.

probably not realistic, but would be interesting if we could buy out the howard game and have SHSU come to our place that week (it's their open date), but it leaves them no open dates during the season....

Any chance it gets played up here?

Suppose there's no power, water, etc in Huntsville. Perhaps the Kats need to use the warm showers in the Westin and workout at the redskins training facilities for a few days...

We need that Howard W. Plus it's Mike London. We're not going to hose Mike.

Seems to me they are scared to come to the Brickhouse. They do not want to face the Rowdies.
If you count SHSU football team, they will likely have more students on the field then we will in the stands....

That being said, a trip to the brick house inst easy for opposing teams.

I think it's pretty clear it's not going to be played in Richmond, therefore I don't think it will be played at all. 15 inches of rain is a ridiculous amount and will cause problems for weeks in that area. Let's get ready for the Gate.

In that case, it should be a forfeit win for us. Sam Houston State will have violated the spirit of hosting the game by failing to provide the necessary accoutrements critical to ensuring the successful completion of said game.

:D

It reminds me of 1999 when Hurricane Floyd decimated eastern North Carolina. ECU had gone down to Columbia and beaten USC and got stuck there for a week. ECU coach Steve Logan is still PO'd 18 years later because after beating the Gamecocks Lou Holtz would only let ECU practice one time for one hour at USC's facilities.
Here they were flooded out of their homes and Holtz wouldn't let them practice at USC when the Gamecocks weren't using the fields. Logan says he told them he'd practice at 2AM if he had to, but to no avail. They ended up practicing at high schools and the hotel parking lot.
The next weekend they played a "home" game at NC State's stadium in Raleigh and defeated a very good Miami Hurricanes team. Logan still complains to this day about Holtz over this incident.

JOC wrote a piece on UR v URI game on October 26,2002 over a 2 day period because of Meade Stadium flooding- Jim Reid kind of weather.

Up 6-0 at half on Saturday.Won 26-0 on Sunday. Not sure how URI personnel got surface(grass) playable within 24 hours.

Except when we got hosed up there by the refs in that I-AA play off game in 1984!

just saw the latest guess and my area is now in line for 24-40 inches of rain. GEEZ, please revise on the next update. it really all depends on how the rain falls, if a ton at one time, get the ark ready, if steady over 3 or 4 days, probably will be OK. my wife wanted to bolt but our kids and grandkids are here and would never think of taking off and leaving them behind. MO is correct, things will take quite a while to get back to normal and the first responders are going to be busy. my son just closed on his first house and he is going nuts about losing his first house within a couple of weeks of buying it. hey i have several friends, one 45, who are in their last days due to cancer so no matter what happens here, small potatoes.

Stay safe and hopefully very dry by staying inside.

If you are in a location where they are telling you to leave do so.....kids and all. Good luck

Hey Ferrum Spider don't be so quick to judge
we had a good following going to the game
we are all disappointed
Hoping for the best to use our vouchers this coming weekend! If not on to Colgate

quick update 9:30am cdt. had a heavy band come through and wake me up about 6:20 this morning, lasted about 30 minutes then a lull and have had off and on rain, not too heavy since them. still way too early to know what is going to happen over the next few days but if it remains in this pattern, probably will be fine. of course some areas are going to be much different than my specific deal. my daughter made it home from LA about midnight, was minding the grand kids while her husband picked her up from IAH. the eye is over Victoria, a really beautiful little town and slowing way down and weakening. the prob is that it is not breaking up, staying in its shape and that is not good news, need it to spin off and break up. funny, recall growing up in tidewater and going through numerous hurricanes and only knowing it was coming about a day or two before it hit whereas now, we have to watch these systems for days, sometimes weeks as it comes your way.

What exactly is the status of the game and when will final decisions be made (if they haven't been already)?

the decision will be made Monday to play thur-fri-or sat in Huntsville. was on campus this morning and talked to several coaches

Can college play a Saturday game and the next one Thurs night?

Plus there are a load of Sat. games scheduled for tv. I don't think we have much hope of getting a slot

Does SHS have a scheduled game on Thurs. Sept. 7th ?

Rumor is that the discussion is between thurs, fri, & sat...

don't want to interrupt the football talk at all so will not bother you with blow by blows down here. saturday, a ton of the rain bands went north and then west over to the south austin region. personally we are fine now but that could change drastically over the next 24 to 36 hours. some people here are already in deep, deep trouble. tried to get my daughter and her fam to evacuate her neighborhood and go to her husband's dads house which has a second floor, they did not and are now trapped in there, no way out. we live about 20 miles west of downtown, near Katy, cannot evacuate east, flooded, can probably go some distance west or north but both directions may have flooding at some point and the last thing i want is to be trapped in my vehicle in a parking lot on an interstate or other highway. the storm is basically stationary and houston is on the bad side and will continue to get the heavy rain bands for days. if the storm does nothing for days, this is going to be a disaster beyond anything i have ever seen in person or anywhere else, 12 million people are at risk here, there will be deaths and thousands of homes, etc., will be unlivable for a long period. based on what i am seeing, there will be no football in huntsville for a long while so start thinking colgate.
