ALMOST NAMED STORM HARVEY

Are other venues outside Huntsville even under consideration? If they're trying to play hopefully they've been looking north.

Agreed. It is pretty clear by now that this game will not be played in Huntsville. So, if we are looking to still play this thing, than we have to be exploring other venues.

I hate not playing the game but make a decision now so the coaches and players can move on to the next opponent. I'm afraid cancel is the only real option.
Right? I don't like the idea of it being Monday and not knowing who our next opponent, or game is going to be against. It can either be gameweek or a bye week which I can't imagine is easy on the coaching staff.

made it through another day and night and still dry, all three households, although my daughter had water at her door last night which has receded back to the street this morning. without question we have been blessed to this point and realize that many, many, people here have not been as lucky. not out of the woods completely but the forecast has most of the heavy rain moving east of Houston thank goodness. still have rising water and two earthen dams just west of the city, just east of my location. thanks for your thoughts and prayers for all of us down here.

It looks crazy down there. I saw a video yesterday of police escorting a herd of cattle through town to get them to higher ground, I've never seen anything like that before.

Weather Update, 8/28/17
Document

The National Weather Service's Houston office (NWS) reports this morning that Tropical Storm Harvey is disorganized and currently located over Matagorda Bay. It is not expected to intensify as it moves out over the water and then northeast over the next few days, but it is possible. With breakdown and movement of the storm, NWS predicts less rainfall in the Huntsville area today, although flash flooding is possible. The threat of tornadoes is also reduced as the forecast for them has moved to counties in extreme southeast Texas and to western Louisiana.

1-2 inches of rainfall is expected for Huntsville this afternoon and tonight, but up to 10-15 inches over the next four days, storm dependent.

I think now its apparent the two schools are working every avenue to play this game. provided the game is not Huntsville/richmond; I like the prospect of either texas state or univ of north texas both schools are 4-5 hour bus ride from Huntsville. both schools have great stadiums and easy access into Austin or dwf. both schools have sat nite home games the remaining schools are east of Houston(Harvey) or are too far away

Considering the size of high school stadiums down in Texas, what's the chance that Sam Houston decides to work through a high school... to host the game ... and for them to work on recruiting relationships with the high school?

they should could.I think the issue for shsu is refunds.if they can get this fiasco close, they can bus ticket holders and not refund

SHSU should get on a plane.Play us in Richmond on Saturday.
We give them % of gate and guarantee them $75,000.Televise back in Texas with local outlet.
We should get close to a sellout on short notice.

I think we would have drawn better if the game was last night but, yes, i still think we'd get a solid crowd here. I was told by a very good source that UR 'and the CAA' were working very hard to get the game up here but Sammy was disinterested in coming up here.

Not surprising, considering Keeler never played a FBS opponent at UD and because he wouldn't give us a return game up here on this game to begin with.

Hard to imagine they avoid giving refunds no matter the resolution. They aren't going to come out looking too good if they force people (many of whom are probably out of their homes etc.) to either bus to a game or not get a refund, so they can save the gate receipts.

Hard to imagine with the school closed til Labor Day that they can justify any scenario where they have to invest resources (time, money, energy etc.) in order to play football. The easiest solution is to come to Richmond and we pay their way (using all our airfare credits and budgeted hotel costs etc. to get them here) and give them the gate receipts (minus expenses with a guarantee it won't cost them anything if expenses exceed receipts). So, we get the game and they get made financially whole. They need a solution that costs nothing. This also gets them off their closed campus which means fewer resources to deal with them for a few days.

I don't think this will happen, but I am not sure why this has been dismissed except that SHSU simply refuses to play us away - - - once in a lifetime circumstances notwithstanding!

I have to think SHSU thinks there chance of winning the game is much better played at some neutral stadium down there where we have to do just as much last minute travel arrangements as they do. If they come here, we just sit and wait for them to play in front of our home crowd. That is a big advantage for us.

As far as HS stadiums down there how about Waco ISD? Holds 11,500, 130 miles from Huntsville...

I can't really see any scenario under which they come up here to play us. This game looked pretty appealing to them down there because I'm sure they are confident they can beat anyone at home. Their league schedule is pretty weak, so if they run the table they stand a really good chance to be a top-4 seed and host all the way through the playoffs. Now if they come up here and lose, that could hurt them come seeding time.

They were non-seeded last year with a gaudy record after not playing anyone. They need this game more than we do for playoff purposes. Whatever the plan, it needs to be figured out soon for logistics and planning.

They were undefeated last year and got the 5 seed.
That's pretty close to a top-4 seed. If they go undefeated again this year, I would expect they'd again have a good chance at a top-4 seed, hence my statement. It just didn't make sense for them to come here.

Read on Facebook Spinner that you are now at your son's house in Barker and the sun is out! That is indeed a blessing!

thanks, actually back home and it remained dry but others nearby were not so lucky, the waters in the reservoir backed up into their homes and have been out helping them get out. am so blessed, lucky, whatever one wishes to call it, our home, my daughter's home and my son's home all are dry. please don't forget the people down here as the storm moves away, they are going to be in need for many months to come.
