A-10 Tournament Projected Seedings

It's a weird quirk of 14-team brackets (with double-byes) that if a play-in team gets through the 2nd round, the 3rd or 4th seed will be the "beneficiary" of the weaker team/tired legs, not the 1st or 2nd seeds. Though I suppose it's nice to only have to gameplan two potential opponents for your first game.

I am not.
VCU is the higher-rated team. Davidson is the home team. Whoever wins should get a slight boost. Either one would be a solid Q2 opponent in the Quarter-final. As much as it would help our odds to advance, I don't think it serves us well for the opponent to be La Salle or GW.

I will certainly root for Davidson. Rooting against the Rams is always a plus, and I have a somewhat irrational fear of facing them in the tourney. I don't think we've ever beaten them in the tourney.

Weird - I just noticed that all four of our possible opponents are teams we played twice during the regular season.
We didn’t get much of a perceptual bounce following the VCU win or this weeks Davidson one. My guess is our NET isn’t what gets us in or out right now, whereas continuing to pile up wins might. So I’d take any easier win, even if it’s the worst team we could come up against.

Davidson about to run VCU out of the gym. If it holds, Davidson gets the 7 seed and VCU will be in the 8/9 game on the other side of the bracket.

I think Davidson-GW is locked in as the 7-10 game, with the winner getting us, correct? Good matchups for us. If it’s Davidson, that’s another chance at a top 80ish win, too.

If LaSalle beats St Joe they get the 10 unless GW wins at Dayton...

Not that it really matters, but just realized UMass is locked into the 8 and VCU the 9. UMass gets the 8 outright if they beat URI tomorrow, or via head-to-head tiebreaker with VCU if the lose to Rhody. 8/9 winner gets Dayton.

Remaining games:

GW v Dayton

LaSalle v Joe’s

Assuming Dayton smokes GW and if LaSalle beats Joe’s
then it’s

Davidson(7) v LaSalle(10) winner v UR on Friday

Mason beats Fordham, while La Salle nips St. Joe's.

Mason is now locked in at the 12, St. Joe's at the 13, and Fordham at the 14.

10/11 comes down to the GW/Dayton game tonight. With a GW win, GW gets the 10 and La Salle the 11. More likely is obviously a GW loss, which gives La Salle the 10 and GW the 11.

Davidson earns the 7, GW and La Salle still vying for the 10 spot to face them. Winner of the 7-10 game gets us.

It's a bit unclear who will be the 10 seed if GW loses to Dayton.

Is there anyway of knowing whether we will be playing in the afternoon session or the night session Friday?

1 seed plays 1st game early followed by 4/5 game. This is because the 1 seed deserves the most rest if they win. Then, the later games will have the 2 seed play the 1st game and then the 3/6 game because the 2 seed deserves more rest than the 3 seed.

So looks like we will be playing Davidson, URI and Dayton if all things go to plan.
