8-23!!

Be nice for the media to actually ask CM to comment on his record against VCU. Really think about it 7-21! Pathetic that UR allows this to continue. No other school would allow this to happen.
“Well you see, we practiced very hard before we played them. I don’t want to talk about what’s happened previously against them because we compete very hard and will compete at an extremely high level this Friday night against them. For us it’s not so much whether we won or lost the game but how we felt we played.”

I figure mooneys answer would be something like that. The last part of what I said is an actual quote from him. I will try to find it or if I can’t I hope someone else can.

This is the dumbest thing among many dumb things that come from over there. UR is predominately in the City of Richmond including the Robins Center - but why worry about facts?

So you are saying Libbie Avenue is not the western border of the city? (Probably not the eastern border of civilization anymore like I call it either...)

However if The City of Richmond wants to give all taxes from UR & CCV to The County of Henrico, I'm sure the county would take it.

That link didn't work for me, but I feel like I have always heard that part of the campus is in the city and part of the campus is in the county. But I don't know which part is in which jurisdiction.

I didn't know any of it was county. I thought the city annexed that land when we moved there.

But the map show part along UR Drive (The Apts?) as county.

The apartments are in Henrico, along with some other parts along the River Road corridor.

There's a small sliver of campus in the County (by the apartments, IM fields), the rest in the City. Like when we had to get the City to approve the football stadium being built on campus.

The origins of the present campus date to 1910, when the Richmond College Board of Trustees purchased approximately 290 acres including Westhampton Lake. Ben Green's old mill pond, now known as Westhampton Lake, stretched 1,326 feet in length and divided the property into two parts. The lake covered approximately fourteen acres and predated the Civil War. Classes at Richmond College started in September, 1914. Westhampton College, a college of liberal arts and sciences for women, was also established in 1914 on the same property. George White McDaniel, chairman of the Board of Trustees committee to secure the deed to the property, noted that the property was, "sufficiently large for all future purposes" of the institution. The property was outside the City of Richmond in Henrico County. Twenty-six years later, Richmond College was once again within city limits as the City of Richmond annexed a considerable portion of Henrico County.

I have always thought that West Point, Princeton and UR have the most beautiful campuses in the country. I haven’t seen them all of course, but I have seen very many, on the east and west coasts.

correct that’s it. I got busted for underage drinking by a U of R cop a month or 2 b4 I turned 21 out in the apartments & I can tell u I was very glad it was Henrico. My henrico judge was Archie Yeatts big Spider supporter. In court he basically laughed at the prosecutor & cop and gave me nothing. Took it under “advisement” & said he didn’t want to see me stumbling around at the next football game. It was so great. Times change they’re probably stricter now idk.

Funny, I had a buddy who got busted on campus for being too drunk one night and all I remember is I had to go pick him up the next morning at the City jail. Needless to say that was a night he would never forget.

henrico vs City baby! I wasn’t arrested just given citation & had to go to court. Never had the pleasure - knock on wood - of ever spending a night in jail. Archie if u reading this I owe u a beer lol.

Yeah, he was stupid drunk, so got sent to drunk tank to sleep it off. Not that it toned down my behavior but I certainly made me aware that the City jail is not where you want to have to spend a night to sleep it off.

And there's a 25% chance you'll get one!

less. We r 2-11 at their gym. And I don’t think we’ve ever beaten them when it could actually do damage to their ncaa chances. Here’s another chance. They could still play their way in. Some Spider fans don’t want to recognize that but it’s true.

now we do have advantages. Moon said this week off is all pros no cons. But if we lose watch postgame that will reverse. Also vcu may be without Hason Ward. Vcu posted mad smack last game & put it their official twitter. The most experienced team in college bball history may have been inspired by Eminem’s Lose Yourself at the SUper Bowl. Inspiration has to come from something or someone besides Mooney who does zero to inspire.

so even though we have an embarrassing record of performance under Mooney vs VCU we have a few things going for us where maybe just maybe we don’t turn over our lunch $ to vcu yet again.

With two in college, and one done - I have done my share of campus visits. UR is top of the top IMO too. I had not been on campus in a while and visited (had nice lunch with coach Mooney :):):):)) last spring and was even nicer than I remembered and very impressive.

I don't know how much of a difference twitter taunting really makes. Our record against them should be motivation enough for this senior class. If Ward is out that does give us a glimmer of hope though.
I always discounted the cheap motivational ploys, but when District Baller enlightened us to Shaka's motivational tactics, they seemed to work very very good. I remember the year of there Final Four run, Shaka pulled the boys in his office, took the February page, burned it, and voila a magical run was born!!

As they say: THIS IS MARCH!!!!

let february burn

Even without Ward, Burton is going to need to be better than 1-12.
1/29 34 minutes, 1 of 7 from 2, 0 of 5 from 3, 3 of 5 from 1

I think a game like against the Bonnies 6 days later would help...

2/4 36 minutes, 10 of 14 from 2, 3 of 6 from 3, 7 of 9 from 1

VCU can talk smack because they own us and Mooney. You would hope this would get under the crawl of our players, clearly Mooney it doesn't for Mooney. He will just talk about the opportunities in front of us if we lose on Friday. He has the speech down pat because he has given it so many times.

I’m sure we’re higher because it’s a crap metric and I don’t even know what it is but I know it doesn’t matter. Vcu will shove it right down our throats and win by 8-10 plus. 7-22 here we come!

Our SRS is 7.11, good for 90th in D-I and 6th in the A-10. So pretty much in line with every other rating system.

Thanks.

If SRS is going to be how we are evaluated, I'm going to look at that stat differently.
Instead of how we did overall (like TOP 75 KenPom) ie our SRS, I'm going to check our wins and losses per season for the last 41 seasons against teams with 6.3 or better SRS (including our post season opponents).

I think that may give an accurate picture, just don't have time right now.

Edit: quick check on 1983-1984
2-1 vs VCU SRS 10.72 (Edit 2 too quick 1-2)
2-1 vs VA Tech SRS 14.09
0-1 vs Wake SRS 15.1
0-1 vs Marquette SRS 9.28 (lowest)
1-0 vs Auburn SRS 12.87
0-1 vs Indiana SRS 14.60
5-5 vs AVG SRS of 12.63 but our SRS was 3.57

Well you just went and ruined 80s whole week. Now he will have to find some other weird ranking system that nobody has ever heard of.
It is not weird and unknown.
It is just:

- Very simplistic
- I believe been around longer than RPI
- Better at predicting future games than at evaluating past seasons
- And mainly used for Football not Basketball

But other than that it is fine :)

Not sure I understand what you mean. It shows it is a fairly accurate quantitative ranking system and that the A10 is a very strong mid-major league this year.

VCU has a lot of very athletic young talent. We need to make our shots, cause turnovers and try to control the boards. Are rebounding has improved a lot recently, outside of the 1st half at home against GMU.

Pretty sure our football program has a better winning % vs. FBS opponents since 2005-2006 than we do vs. VCU. (Paging SF/Fan2011)
