That’s all u need even tho there is plenty else.

7-20 is all u need to put on a billboard.

What hurts is we know we can do better. Seen it w Tarrant Beilein Wainwright. & we have resources. All of us have probably been fans of dysfunctional pro sports in past. & the worst is when that team has the resources but doesn’t make the full effort. That’s UR.

And our coach now has 3 years left on a multi million dollar contract after an insane 2 year extension & said coach is going on TEN years without NCAA and is 7 & freaking 20 vs. VCU. And he’s now doing his worst coaching job in year 16 w the preseason A10 favorite.

It is diabolical.

Remember when we used to mock them for calling it their super bowl in their CAA days?
This has turned into nothing but a homecoming game for them and we allowed it to happen for the most part.

Yep and there is nothing I have ever seen that it bothers Mooney. I mean it has to be personally embarrassing no?

It’s 1 thing to have a bully. But u will never fix it going down another street. At least show some fight. If u r going to steal my lunch money every year I’m not going to say thank you.

Your team reflects the coach.

Cup your hand & drop an F bomb like u used to at least. Emasculated Mooney.

Question what will it take for Richmond to get our of its deal with mooney?

Paul Queally

I said this last year the only way even a 1 year extension was agreeable would be a favorable buyout. And we had the leverage.

U give Moon an extension for recruiting PR reasons and if we reach expectations this year well Moon gets to stay and gets paid. Which he probably thought was going to be no problem w a loaded team.

Unfortunately Hardt is not very good at his job either. Just saying it was literally the only way u could conceivably do what we did. But We R UR!

There's no chance the extension didn't come with at least some degree of cover for the school.

I agree although quite a few people on this board have told me no way that buyouts don’t exist. Which is a bunch of baloney.

But the key is how much cover. Probably very minimal that it makes no difference even tho again we had leverage.

I’m just stunned that so many good businessmen have turned out to be bad businessmen.

It’s interesting. Queally done well in business. I’m only of moderate intelligence but unless he’s funding this as some sort of R&D grant where we’re all human guinea pigs I think he has to be growing well weary of our production KPI’s. 25% winning percentage vs VCU and looking like 10 straight years of no NCAA bids. It hits you right in the face. My minimal interaction w Queally on a personal level has told me he does not like being the punching bag. But guess I was wrong.

What university in the country would pay Mooney a million plus a year?

Anyone have a link to Mooney postgame presser? I haven't seen anything but maybe I'm missing.

They are quick to post that after wins but something always happens after losses.

Can my man SFSpidur help me out? If he can't find it nobody can. I mean I think I'm looking in the right spots and I'm 99% certain there was a postgame press conference. Maybe this a little thing. But little things add up.

I listened to the radio show on ESPN 950 which included comments from Mooney and Gilly. In that, I know Gilly mentioned the “tv” interview so there was a another press conference. Also, Noah had a screenshot of it on his Twitter feed of a Zoom conference, but I did not see a link.

They castrated Mooney after the Charlotte game, he's never been the same on the sidelines. I think there's a clause in his contract that prohibits him from public F'bombs and using relevant timeouts.

It was a self castration. IMHO.

Thx Native & SF. Our biggest game of year and against our in city rival and they won’t post the presser. Transparency. Typical.

That was my freshman year. Still blame Mooney 0% for that. I know nobody on here agrees, but that is the most likable I have ever seen him. And personally that game is what made me such a strong supporter of his.
I think a lot of us agree with you, actually. Those were bullshit calls and he should have been livid. I was glad to see the way he reacted.

I guess there won’t be a 7-21 at least!

Hold on...I’m now hearing VCU could still knock us out of A10 tourney...again.

D Will - Mooney should have gotten that under control long before it blew up at Charlotte.

I had season tickets in the corner when Mooney first came. He used to be great to listen to as he yelled down the bench. But the players got soft and the alumni base frowned on it. Mooney starting becoming soft before Charlotte but that was definitely the point of no return.

He gave the cup the mouth F bombs to Darien Brothers big time on bench in AC in one of our NCAA years. I was close enough. Also sat behind bench one time and remember him telling Terry Allen that “this isn’t high school Terry!” Also heard he’d call Geriot things in practice that would make u blush.

But none of it was over the line that u wouldn’t expect from high level D1 and the players still knew he cared for them.

Mooney definitely changed. No fire. Acceptance.

AGree 100% with this. I have always thought he has changed his temperament since that game and I think this has also translated in to his ability to motivate and challenge the players.

"I think what we can take is, we competed, and there were some hustle plays and some good things like that. That's very good. We again forced a lot of turnovers in a game, which we've been good at. We had very few turnovers, and I'm confident that we're going to make shots. A little bit of that is a combination of a good defensive team, fatigue...but I'm confident we'll improve and have a lot of basketball in front of us."

Couldn't tell if you guys were joking with those quotes or not so I had to listen for myself and....you were not joking 😨

Other highlights
"we are capable of having a good shooting night against almost any team because I think we are somewhat built that way but I give them a lot of credit for their defense."

"we had our hands full with trying to make some shots but I thought they did have long possessions especially the last 8 minutes or so of the game... we were a bit fatigued for sure."

Maybe I’ll listen. I think there’s a fine line to walk as a coach where you want to call out a subpar performance without throwing individuals under the bus. It’s undermining oneself to do that but I look at that game as a moment to confidently express disappointment in the performance and express that it’s not acceptable if they aspire to be an elite team. I suspect he’s doing that behind the scenes but a little public display can sometimes be helpful if done properly.

"We competed."

Lol that’s amazing.

Thx SF. That’s not the full presser the RTD cut it up a bit but shows it’s out there.

Why we don’t post like normal idk. Unprofessional. Maybe we r embarrassed by Mooney never being upset losing to Vcu. Seen it year after year.

Finally got to see VCU for a full game and hate to admit but played way smarter than Mooney's team. They were the patient team on offense when the Spiders should have been. Even if Hyland doesn't come back (100% believe he should, 2nd rounders don't get guaranteed money) they have plenty of productive players coming back. Announcer stated Stockard even wants to come back. UR has Burton and non-starters back. I expect the 7-20 to get worse before it gets better.

agreed they have plenty coming back. they'll be good. but "smarter" is not how I'd describe their game that night. they had way too many forced and unforced turnovers. that's not smart ball.

I did think it was smart to release after challenging Gilyard's shots. teams should always make him get back instead of letting him hunt steals in the frontcourt.
