The team had 6 turnovers, 5 INTs and 1 fumble. It is hard to win when that occurs. And the safety. Any others?

Don’t forget a safety after fielding a punt a few steps out of the end zone.

Do we have a plan b for a punter? I know that he's a freshman, but there has been a bunch of mistakes and frankly lousy punting so far. Just wondering if the coaching staff put all their punting eggs in one basket again.

Think little Trau should be given a chance. Hear his leg is bigger per their dad.

And for those of you who continually shout me down and say that FCS teams can't find kickers who can put the ball in the endzone, the Delaware kid had 6 touchbacks in 7 attempts. Does anyone lack the clarity to see how important this is?

So come over to my side, or shut up

Johnson never threw 5 INTs in a game, did he? Mancuso did some nice things, but tough to overlook all those picks. I think we have two flawed QBs with potential. Would like to see another game or two of Mancuso to see what he has.

Brownie in Hiding-

As a RsSo when was the last time Mancuso not only started a game but also played the full 60 minutes? He knew he’d start on Wednesday afternoon.

He didn’t quit. Didn’t see him hang his head. KL threw a number of picks as well. It happens - I’m more curious to see more of JM than KJ at this point.

5 picks I would classify as follows:
2 poor throws/decisions
2 that hit our receivers hands first, though perhaps thrown a little high
1 hell of a catch by the defender on the long bomb late in the game on a play Clearly designed to throw the ball as far as he could and give our receiver a chance to go get it.

All and all, a pretty good performance with 2 balls I am sure he would say he would like to have back.

Let's not forget that we were already in a hole before Mancuso took his first snap. Everyone including Delaware knew he had to throw it all game. Weren't we down 43-10 at one point? Under those conditions, I thought he was outstanding.

If he could only kick....

Liked a lot of what I saw from Mancuso too, but several of KJ's interceptions were not his fault either. just think as much as people piled on KJ for his picks... lots of those came when we were way behind and had to throw a lot too... that we should also acknowledge that Mancuso wasn't a savior. like I said, I want to see more of him and most likely we will.

I think Joe has to be the quarterback of the future if the coaches decide to start him for the rest of the year. Trying to go back to KJ after a few starts with Joe could quickly turn into a disaster.

I don’t disagree...but is it not a disaster right now anyway?

Touché. I will say it is a disaster now with potential to get better quick next season if we make the right decisions at quarterback for the future

His first pick was thrown right to the defender in the first quarter, down 7-3.
His pick 6 was in the 2nd quarter when we were down only 14-3, also thrown right to the defender.

Pick #3 was effectively a punt. It was the first drive of the 2nd half, but we were down 35-10 already.

Bottom line, we're -9 in turnovers over the past two games. Clean that up and we're competitive down the stretch.

You know early on Lauletta threw a lot of picks, and then he threw less and less after he started reading
defenses better and developed quicker decision making and put the ball to where the receiver should be.
I think Joe and Kevin have to improve on those things that made Lauletta successful and that will be gained through
game experience and of course practice repetition and game video studying. Unfortunately they have a lot to learn
but I personally think Joe has the best chance primarily due to his size and running ability. Kevin is most effective being
able to roam outside the pocket where he is not having to look over tall linemen.

Is it more bad reads or bad routes that are causing the interceptions?

I know its always the popular opinion to go with the backup when things aren't going well but I'd like to see us go with JM the rest of the way. Both qb's have been bitten by the turnover bug but JM seemed to give us a legit threat with his legs as well. I think we would be well served for next season if Mancuso gets these valuable reps. I know that kinda sounds like giving up on this season and KJ is a veteran who has paid his dues but it I think it would be a long term benefit to the program.

I think Joe plays because he is a similar player to coach Huesman’s son Jacob, who was a great running quarterback at Chattanooga. In regards to KL’s progress and learning to take care of the ball over the years, don’t underestimate the importance of Charlie Fisher and John Garrett on that development. I don’t think Corp is on that level of a coach (yet) and Durden never has been or will be that level of a coach

Midlothian high school kicker kicked 5 through the end zone, converted all his extra points and made a 48 yard field goal. Full ride is in order, drop the Trau's.

Johnson is just too small and can't see over the line. I at least thought he could run, but nope. 5'10" guys just can't see over 6'5" guys. Mancuso does need to cut down his mistakes, but 560 yards against a coach that knew everything we were going to do is amazing.
I would go with Joe the rest of the year. He has two more years after that to be the man. #GoWithJoe

Having been to a Midlothian High game or two this year, I was going to call BS on this one, thinking there's no way they scored enough to kick off that many times - but lo and behold, it's true!

Have you heard of Drew Brees.......

It is all about lanes and reads, knowing routes and receivers running routes.

And Doug Flutie, Russel Wilson, etc. but it requires being able to very accurately throw on the run, and I haven't see that. I'd give JM another start and see if his decision making improves. I think that is the problem both of them have.

The great short quarterbacks have great offensive lines. You can see over your lineman if they hold their ground at the line of scrimmage, but when your center and guards are getting pushed into your lap, you can’t see down field. If the offensive line was more firm in pass pro there would be throwing lanes but that isn’t the case.

65% completions, over 250 yards a game and only 1 interception in 3 games. I would gladly take that over what he produced the first 5 games this year

Brees, Flutie, and Wilson are the absolute rarest exceptions to the rule. Outliers because they possess elite accuracy, anticipation, mobility, etc. It would be like expecting every undersized guard Mooney signs to be Kevin Anderson.
