3 Pt shooting

the one I'm thinking of looked like a set play, where Jake came through the lane off a screen to the corner to get the pass and take an open shot.

Ok. And in giving Mooney past credit I was amazed at how good UR was in getting easy buckets on under the basket in-bounds plays. Plenty of times Spiders got away with that until teams caught on.

He's killing it at Salem University. 5.9 ppg with an avg of about 15 minutes a game. 2 DNPs, too.
I am just dumbfounded reading what you just said. Why in the hell was this guy someone we even thought about recruiting??? I think just by looking at his numbers that he can't even make it at whatever division Salem is in clearly means he wasn't anywhere close to being a D1 talent. I don't understand this program at all.

I think we got him when he decommitted from Charlotte.
His most interesting stat was 57% from 3 his last year in HS. After 25% the two previous years...

It’s the only thing we’ve won at the A10 tournament since 2011.

Looking back Mooney should have been gone right after that game. The Pisto Simon Says affair was so embarrassing for the program it was a fireable offense. Didn’t he win something? It was probably a NCAA violation. The guy also had pink eye. Can’t make that shit up.

No, we are at the bottom. That is why we were picked at the bottom preseason and why we are at the bottom right now. It is not because of Mooney's coaching acumen, but because of our talent. That is how these ranking go and literally everyone outside our program looked at our talent and said "basement A-10 team". Go back and look at what Dayton fans said about our team after their game.

We have 3 A-10 level players, that is it. Woj and Dre wouldn't ever be recruited at a program like Dayton, SLU, VCU, shoot even Duquesne at this point. And in no program (save maybe Fordham), would they be anywhere close to a starting role. Who else recruited Woj and Andre, basically no one. Same for Grace.

Sal may have some talent but what does it say about him that he can't even get 1 minute of playing time in this line-up we roll out.

And then you have Yates, JJ, and Verbinskis. Those guys are slow and don't have one A-10 level skill.

Mooney is not a great coach but it takes a combination of bad coaching and lack of talent to lose to bad teams like Wyoming, Longwood, Hampton, Oral Roberts and then get blown out by teams that are just decent like Davidson and Dayton.

Losing to a bad A-10 team like St. Joes who is down to 7 scholarship players. We got them missing 2 starters and a top reserve off a team that when they had those players was getting blown out in conference games and we got beat.

We need to stop deluding ourselves that we are talented. We are not.
One easy way to find out, replace CM and see how someone else does with this crew. I’m betting substantially better

Made our 3s and FTs and got a real nice win tonight. Grant, Jake, and Nate played great, and really the whole team played well for 38 minutes. Almost gave it away, but a much needed win. It is really no secret. Make your 3s and FTs and you can even beat some pretty good teams.

I haven't seen the final tallies, but at one point, quite late in the game, I saw that we were shooting 60% from 2, 50% from 3, and 100% from the foul line. That's as efficiently as you can shoot, just about, and I worry that it got so dicey at the end.

Nevertheless, we won (for which I am happy, really). The players deserved a good win like that. Sadly, it will probably not do the A-10 any favors, as that kind of loss will really make it hard come the end of the season for SLU to get past come tournament time.

Don't worry about the A-10. We are a 1 bid league this year and there is nothing that can change that.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I'm hoping VCU loses out, then loses in the A10 first round.

with you ....can give Broad Street U - some heavily grudged props for playing well - but can never, ever, pull for them to do anything other than lose every game........................
