Ok Nelson may have some potential but a starting point guard with 2 points, no assist and a massive turnover……horrible

What a coaching masterpiece from coach Thomas. Call a timeout after going up 4 with 2 minutes left, killing all momentum. Draw up a half court three for your center when you’re down one with a minute left. Leave your 7 footer, who has been dominant, on the bench when you have the ball down 1, with a minute to go. Don’t get your star player, who has been able to get to the line at will, even a touch of the ball on a possession when down one, then again on a possession when down 3.

Obviously Mooney call him on his cell.

needed 63 again.

I know many don't like our normal offense, but we went so much 1 on 1 iso crap today. ugh. it was awful. that's not the answer.

no idea why Quinn went out with 4 minutes left after his forth foul up 4. I thought maybe just for a quick blow. did he ever get back in? we blew our earlier lead with him sitting.

Burton's shot (especially mid range) is a mess. he's got to get to the rim every time or get fouled. not sure when his shooting totally fell apart.

Quinn was very good again. our defense was good. we can't score.

He had to do it out of loyalty to the Moonman. Had to play the last 2 minutes just like Mooney would have.
Hahaha seriously, what a complete disaster. Literally handed the game to GM.

great finish as usual. Waste a TO to do nothing at 2:08 up 4. we play no D on next possession. Go deep into closk on next opportunity and hoist up a bad shot because we have to; leave a guy wide open for a dagger three; call a TO to design a play where Grace shoots from 35 feet with all kinds of time left; and then with our last hopes hanging on a thread, we turn it over. Beautiful.

Same script almost every game and it wasnt just the last 2 minutes. Had the huge run against us while we went scoreless for extended period; outrebounded of course, cant shoot (make) 3's as usual; its pretty damn clear we just are not a good or well coached team. This is exactly who we are and who we have been for a long time. Some exceptional PG play over the years has hidden all the coaching shortcomings and now with sub-par PG play, we are just totally exposed!

In the off-season word was Burton adjusted his shot after the nba process. Was meant to speed up his release. Ended up being a disaster quite honestly. Even with that he was our best player by far all season

I think one of the biggest indictments on the coaching staff this season was handing the keys to the Ferrari over to Nelson from game 1. Putting that much faith and trust in a guy who over the course of the season would give us an amount of solid games that I could count on one hand was just gross incompetence, no other way to put it.

Burton and Quinn were the only ones to show up as always. Grace was his usual non factor along with Nelson and Goose. Bench did absolutely nothing. We can just bury the 22-23 season in a shoebox in Mooney’s backyard with the other 14 early exit seasons.

He learned from the momentum killing master.

Well, on to the off season. Theses games hardly move the needle anymore, hoping for the win, but if we scraped out of this one I think SLU would clock us. Really need to revamp the back court next year. Not sure what the answers is, but very least need a transfer guard that can score and play make.

Agreed, but losing to VCU North 3 times in one season is embarrassing. Nobody cares if we lose to SLU, no one knows anyone that attended there.

Horrible end of game coaching! Absolute malpractice! Amateurist

Quinn had played well all game. Get's his 4th foul with 4: and some change left. Never see him again! Especially with 37-seconds left and you need a bucket? No Quinn? He had been your most effective player, and he is WATCHING FROM THE BENCH! Ridiculous & Pathetic

Designed play coming out of the time out, Grace throws up the the brick on a shot that he had about 1% chance of making. Is that really the best we can come up during the timeout? If it is, Ridiculous & Pathetic.

You put the ball in the hands of the player MOST LIKELY to make a mistake at the most critical point of the game. That is HORRIBLE decision-making by the temporary coach. I, (and others I'm sure) said to myself "he is going to throw it away." That is the best coaching that you can come up with? Ridiculous & Pathetic!

A Mooney coached team, Thomas is nothing but a clone.

For any who still had doubt about what UR's basketball problem might be, that doubt was totally erased today!

Team star runs over to the coaches huddle. With seconds left coaches and player talk over the play for the most important game of the season and the plan……..Grace takes a 40 footer after one pass……good grief
Fitting way for the Grace career to end.

Quite honestly, it’s amazing we won as many games as we did without a PG and SG. Burton, Quinn, and Grace carried this wreck the best they could.

Yep Homer, I'm sure Peter is a nice guy too. But, other than McGheehan, these Mooney assistants just seem like life time assistant yes men. Obviously an outside observer, but the guys we hire seem content to be assistants, and follow the lead of the HC. I think last year with Hovde and Joseph, we had two up and comers with a voice. The Boyden hire seems good, so maybe we are starting to transition here, but I was really hoping that Boyden would get the interim gig and try to bring some fire and defense to the forefront.

Yes, I saw that. Odd that turned into the Grace shot. I am guessing that Grace just decided to take things in his own hands. Two feet closer in that has a better chance.

At least Boyden seams to care and shows some emotion. He is staying away from the Dixie cup so far.

Yes Good grief!! We had made 1 - 3 pointer all game. Our only second half scoring was from driving to the basket and getting fouled, which had a likelihood of success about 70% of the time. WTF???
If Thomas had any aspirations that this Interim job would land him somewhere, his hopes just went down the toilet if anyone sees this disaster.
Not putting Quinn back in might be even more of coaching malpractice than the Grace shot. Was he trying to save him for OT when we had a 44 point lead?
No wonder not a single Mooney assistant has gotten a Head job at a decent college. That says all you need to know about his coaching skills.
