2019 - Win or else for Huesman

”... did an excellent job at nooga.“

6-5, 6-5, 5-6, 6-5, 8-4, 10-4, 9-4, 9-4. Excellent?

Ulla, what are your expectations for UR football in terms of annual win/loss record? I only ask because you have been steadfastly patient and supportive of Mooney on this board during some pretty mediocre basketball seasons. You don’t seem like a big Huesman fan...which is your right of course but do you not think he is the man for the job or is it more of a response to how “negative” posters have been on Mooney the last few years? Genuine question: not trying to start a message board war. You seem much more patient about sticking with our long time basketball coach than our 2nd year football coach.

correct DT, that program was in the toilet and it took him longer than one would like but he turned it around. if he had remained with UR think we would have won two national championships, he was that good and we needed him against app state that night. listening to spencer tillman, former sooner great and nfl player who does some media for the texans locally, he said something which seems on the money. he stated that the coaches do their thing in practice, the players do their thing in practice but the key is, the players being able to do on the field what they were taught and sometimes players cannot execute on the field. anyone who has played any sport knows that is true, practice and game time are two different animals but you hope that practice allows the player to execute when the lights are on out there.

Well, if they quit playing for Huesman then I guess they've given up playing football altogether, because none of them will play at the next level. Why would any kid give up playing something they've done all their lives, just to spite someone? I don't get it.
I didn't and still don't fully believe it but how many times do you have to hear it before it's proven to be real We'll see Sat. Unlike basketball, baseball, (where you can find a league and continue playing pretty easily) this is the last time some of these guys will every play? I don't get it.

I've been quiet for a few weeks but just thought I'd add my 2 cents real quick. As players we love the game and dont want to lose, the nature of competition. None of these seniors are "quitting" while they're out there or arent trying. Theres literally times where the guys dont get the defensive call or they're running the most basic of concepts with teams not having to respect the run because we don't trust our RBs. One of the many reasons you guys have heard that the team doesnt like huesman, is because since he stepped on this campus he belittled and disrespected his players and coaching staff. A lot like what I've been reading from UMD. We were trying to adjust to everything that he was trying to change in the program but we knew if we made one mistake, we'd be coming over to the sideline and get ridiculed. Caused some us to play more tentative, than normal. You can say that, that is soft and we cant take critiscm, but if you heard some of the things he'd say you wouldn't want your son being talked to that way. That's my 2 cents, time to go incognito again.

You arent helping the growing narrative that the Rocco kids are soft. Best to just stay incognito, kid.

Get on board or win them somewhere else. Dont waste the best years of your life going through the motions. Nobody that signs your paycheck or deposits your rent check will care one iota.
That little spiel is a waste, when I was there I tried my hardest to do what was asked. And if doubt that your support isnt needed. We were the ones out there playing not you.

And if you* doubt that (my bad on the grammar).

You guys are talking like we didnt do what was asked of us and that's the reason the team is losing

Seriously, bud. Nobody cares. In another 10 days, I won't even care until next August. There has to be 2 more years of this before administration cares.

You get to decide if you go buy a Spiders cap or a Delaware cap with whatever's left of your paycheck soon. Big decision. Good luck with it.

The Spider Club should use this quote in their next mailer when they ask us for money.

surely admin wont put up with 2 more years of this

was talking to a good bud this morning and we were discussing all the lean years in both basketball and football that we had endured over the decades. one thing we agreed on, no matter how bad it was, how much it hurt, we bought our tickets and we showed up at games to support the teams. to our team, sorry i am not there to support in person but you can bet am 100% with you guys.

recall when marcus latrelle, LONE SURVIVOR, was asked if his seal training helped him and he stated, most definitely, had numerous wounds and a broken back and was attempting to get to safety but kept falling to the ground. my training kept me going, just told myself, get up, get up. don't stay down guys, get up

Have you seen our basketball program?
i must admit not much of a basketball guy , and no matter how bad i will allways get my football season tickets , and do as many away games as i can, i wonder if things are like this in two years what the crowds will look like at home games. in your opinion what program is more important to get right football or basketball , i mean i know we all want both , but just curious if you had to pick one

The UMD reference I imagine was an exaggeration but if that is truly the conditions you’re talking about than I think you have an obligation to inform folks. Perhaps just overly sensitive here but if from your experience you think the coaching staff is putting the lives of our players at risk than you can’t just post something on a message board and say you did your part. Sorry - not trying to call you out, just felt my own obligation to ask for clarification.

There is far more financial upside in basketball than football.

Selling beer and wine at the Robins Center for MBall game should put us over the top financially especially for the VCU game. These libations could help to deaden the spectator senses due to another losing season as well,in spite of the increased cost of liability insurance.

No question there is much more financial upside in basketball. I am a fan of both but if I had to pick one, my vote is football. When Spider Football is winning, I have a blast following the team. Tailgating, playing other top level CAA teams, and playoff football is so much fun.

Not to be repetitive but football at least has and endowment to help the financial impact. Is the total cost of coaches in football equal to Mooney’s deal ?

Regardless of which sport you like both are underperforming at this point based on resources allocated and facility upgrades. One coach is acknowledging it and has been here only two years. The other one has been here too many years and must go.

Leave Chenault in for KJ does not have it. I say our OC needs to go as his play calling is
horrible.

Not until Mooney goes. Why be the hypocrite.
Nothing hypocritical about it. Mooney made them a better team throughout the course of his career. This clown had an NFL QB as well as an NFL lineman and went 5-6 and this year is 3-6 staring at 3-8 most likely. He has taken the program an entire direction since he arrived....the wrong direction.

Got admit a bucket full of injuries on both sides. But I am not impressed with Durden.
We seem to be very plastic on offense with little variety. I do think if we are going to have
a dual purpose QB, KJ is NOT the man. He wants to throw deep most options he has.

We don't play fast as Durden said we would which in my mind would be like a 2 minute drill.

You lost me at "Mooney made them a better team throughout the course of his career." He lost to a school that has had basketball for less time than he's been coaching Richmond. Richmond sports are currently in the hopper.

Rocco build a straw house and threw a match on it. Huesman hasn’t been able to put out the fire. I just hope that he can rebuild it or get out of the way for someone else to.

Saw KJ pull himself during 2Q driver that wound up resulting in a field goal. Initially thought it was an equipment issue then finally saw him getting his hand or wrist taped and testing his grip on the ball. Anyone know what happened? Trying to figured out if he ultimately gotten benched or did he finally leave the game because of injury?
