2019 - Win or else for Huesman

7 turnovers would kill any team. No defense can stop the bleeding when your an throws it to the other team. There will be changes I hope for next year. I see some guys leaving the program because of their relationship with the hc

So what.Let them leave.Time to grow up.Get a job.Maybe they’ll be happy playing at Bama or LSU and then going to the NFL and living in the big house on the hill, wearing bling, marrying a trophy wife and driving a Ferrari.

I’ll take my UR diploma and bank account.Good luck to the disenchanted and downtrodden.

Who quit? Clyde? Matthews? Wilkins? Bevels? Drake? Collins? Trau? Norris? Palmer? Keels? Jacob? Roberson? Brissett? Rubin? Yarborough? Caughell? Williams? Geraghty? Ejoni? Thompson?

I think not— the red shirts would have walked away. Why don’t you, and all those who think that this team has quit, go introduce yourselves to all these players, plus any whose names I may have forgotten, and then call them quitters to their face. Nobody likes losing — players, coaches, and fans.
i agree all the kids you listed are playing there hearts out, but i would also think they would tell you this team is better than there record, and i agree no one likes losing but it does not change the fact they are not only losing , but losing ugly, so how does it get better ? and with this staff in place as it is does , it start to get things better , or dig the hole deeper?

I shouldn't say it - but, after today, I would love to see a Michael Strauss-type quarterback transfer in this January.
Might as well play Hughes the last two games and see what the only Huesman-recruited QB on the roster can do.

Well I hope the seniors are played heavily cause this is it for them and their career. But any body with redshirt games left should get an opportunity. We are not deep and plenty of injuries currently.

Play for pride and its like a bad golf round, you can play like crap 17 holes, then you hole out from the fairway on 18 for eagle and you forget the other 17 and cannot wait to play your next round.

isn't he a red shirt soph? at what point in time are these 'improvements' going to happen? KJ a redshirt Junior and has similar problems.
Mancuso wasn’t heavily recruited and it was likely because he didn’t have a lot of qb coaching. He’s good but very raw. It takes about two years to work out the bad habits of a high school qb who thinks they can throw to a guy “when he’s open” as opposed to hitting a spot timely or throwing a guy open. Mancuso needs some offseason work on timing routes and some reps with first team receivers to learn how to throw them open. He’s got potential as does KJ who looks like he’s had very little upper echelon qb coaching. He is athletic though and might be a better fit at X receiver.

How much of Huesman's success at Chattanooga, or lack of head coaching ability, was masked by his son's talent as a QB? Might be fair to start wondering.

Whenever I see a highlight film I always wonder what was edited out. That said, the recruit does show something you don’t always see and that is the ability to throw off the “wrong foot” on the sprint out passing game which is the proper technique. He might be good but you’ll need to see a college workout with college dbs to see how he does.

JM has been here almost 3 years now and KJ longer what's been going on with their development? and why do you think it will miraculously improve?

Quarterbacks improve in response to coaching. My original point was the qb coaching looks lacking to me and I've seen 4 games to conclusion (one live) with both qbs in there. They make the same mistakes over and over and they hurry throws with no reason to do that. It could be a receiver/route issue but the receiver corps is the strength of the team and it's not as likely there given the experience.

You can either refute it with superior knowledge or make inane comments cementing you as a nitwit.

I never critique verbal commits.Ever.At any position.

When you do,that’s being dimwitted.

Where do you sit in the Peanut Gallery?I will work on getting you upgraded to the bleacher section.

I’d hope that Huesman turns over half the staff. It just has to happen if he wants to stay here. Sparky Woods and Carey Bailey have earned their keep in my view. Perhaps others have as well but it sure seems like we should make a number of changes.

I also think Adam Ross has done a pretty nice job with limited numbers on the offensive line. Some good young talent is starting to assemble there.

Careful about referring to the peanut gallery we are edgy right now not use to having no plans for the playoffs
Interesting. I don't recall having any angst about traveling for Thanksgiving 2010, 2011, 2012, & 2013.

Thought Huesman comments on QBs throw interceptions during games because they do so in practice. Sounded like they have execution issues in games cause they cannot consistently execute in practice.

These comments left me thinking there is definitely some coaching issues to not have players better prepared. Last week after a bye week I was disappointed how unprepared we looked.

Interesting line of questioning from JOC about the quarterback concussions.

The continued "we need to coach better" comments suggest to me that there might be some changes on the staff in the offseason.
Didn't realize JM was in concussion protocol until the postgame presser. We thought he'd been benched. (We sit on the East side so we can't see what's happening on the home bench).

It sounds like KJ has taken his last snap.

We've been hearing "we need to coach better" since Elon last year. Ironically the D played pretty well the last 3 games of 2017, which may have given AB a reprieve - then we regressed big time this year.

3 carries for Collins. 1 for DT. Inexcusable.

Braithwaite definitely an interesting case. Not a particularly visible guy. Not sure he has been behind a microphone since hes been here. Perhaps an up-and-comer but also clearly has seen alot less football than guys like Cosh or Trott and that has probably hurt us.

What’s inexcusable is the Maine beat reporter using a typewriter...geez.

I know folks are tired of hearing RH lay blame on coaches. I’m fine with it. At least he seems to think there’s an issue and am hopeful he’ll make changes. Compare than to Mooney who seems to never think there’s anything wrong...

That's you. The video speaks for itself. As for my spot in the stadium, I'm in the box or nowhere.

Start Reid, he may not be the most athletic but if he can keep his head and make reads better than what we're had, What can it hurt to start him?

I am not sure who to start, just take care of the ball & don't beat ourselves. In out last 3 home games (JMU / Del. / Nova ) if my math is correct turnover margin is minus 16 !!!

Saturday was extremely disappointing, not because I expected us to win but because of the lack of execution we saw coming off a bye week. A lot of posters have mentioned players possibly quitting but I didn't see that...what I did see was a very poorly prepared and coached team. We made critical mistakes in all 3 phases against a very underwhelming opponent. Last year it seemed like our defense did improve down the stretch (The game at JMU was the best defensive performance of the year). This year we have regressed as the season has gone on. 7 turnovers in game nine....ugh. We have got to make some kind of change with our secondary in terms of personnel and/or coaching. Having a secondary that can't tackle is like taking a boat on the water with the plugs out. It's not a matter of if but when you are going to sink.

I think a unique case with Huesman and something we have to take into consideration is the fact that there are still former Rocco players on the team who may not have bought into Huesman’s system. As the years go on, those players will graduate and we’ll have a roster of players who all want to play for Huesman and buy into his system. Huesman can only do so much if the players hearts aren’t into it.

If Huesman fires some of his staff, continues to bring in top talent, and adjusts his defensive scheme, I’ll take those as positive signs moving forward. Losing is not fun. Not making the correct adjustments to improve is even worse. Let’s see what Huesman does this off season
I heard unsolicited (admittedly indirectly), a player says what's been said on this board a number of times, and I found hard to believe, the Rocco seniors don't like Huesman and don't want to play for him. I don't get it because Rocco quit (he left them), but this theme keeps coming up.

Well, if they quit playing for Huesman then I guess they've given up playing football altogether, because none of them will play at the next level. Why would any kid give up playing something they've done all their lives, just to spite someone? I don't get it.

Pretty immature and narrow-minded stuff from these kids, huh? They'd rather go through the motions and lose, in order to keep their scholarship for a semester than just pay for a semester. Pretty pathetic.

I keep hearing this and it sounds like a convenient excuse to me. Watching the games, it certainly does not look like our Seniors have quit. In fact, they seem to be some of the only players making plays. Clyde, Dale, Stephon, Yarborough, etc. continue to play hard and play well week in and week out.

I don't think anyone on this team has quit but all of them are making a lot of fundamental mistakes from the seniors down to the freshmen. I posted before the bye week that my modest goal for the rest of the season was to see a functional football team...then we come out after a bye week and commit 7 turnovers and refuse to tackle anyone. Ugh.

don't see the games like you guys do so difficult for me to join in here but seems to me, this slide started under rocco, the way he departed, the loss of our staff to umwcah and probably the lack of recruiting over the past few years. several of the league teams have gotten much better as we were going in the other direction and now it is showing. normally am for giving a coach an opportunity to get his players in and not just starting over because the next guy might be worse, even if you think he is better and you are then just shooting yourself in the foot. getting rid of a coach you just hired is not always the best solution and this guy was gold as a DC during our championship run and did an excellent job at nooga.

I think there’s a difference between not trying between the lines on Saturdays and not preparing during the week, being 100% attentive st practice, etc. so while the guys may be hustling during the games it doesn’t sound like they may be giving it their all during practice. That is very toxic and disappointing. Just shows a real lack of leadership from the captains and some big whiffs from the staff.
